Hey, I am pretty new to paintball and I wnat to join a speedball team.

I am not a total noob though; I have been playing close to four years, on and off. It wasn't untill this year, with a recent trip to a speedball field, that I really started getting into the sport.

For now I just play in my friend's backyard (which we are going to fix up to be a decent woodsball field), but Woodsball just isn't the same as speedball.

So I would like to join a team, or just be able to practice with a team to help develop my paintball skills. If anyone knows of any programs or teams for paintball noobs, and they are in Georgia, let me know. Any help would be appreciated.

Look and ask around at your local shops and fields.

My advice would be make a few friends around the field, (if you haven't already) and start your own, then you guys call all the shots and you can be as competive asa you want and go at your own pace

I'm with stickfigure. Make your own so you can play and learn at your own pace.

It's not a bad idea but if wants to learn as much as can wouldn't it be a better idea to try to join a team that has at least a few experienced players? How much and/or how quickly do you think you can learn just playing on a team made up your friends?

I'm from the Atlanta area, depending on what field you're playing out of there should be some already established teams/players that should be able to help you out. This is especially true at Classic(Lithia Springs), Ultimate(Canton) and Maximum(Oakwood). You might not be looking at getting a spot playing big tournies right off the bat, but you'll have guys to practice with and give you the knowledge you need to really excel at this game.

Playing more experienced players is a good way to get better, but it helps if you can pick their brains between games and get some legitimate assistance rather than just getting shot up all of the time.

On that note, you should try and make it out to Classic to watch some of this weekend's CFOA 5-man tournament. It'll be a good learning experience, and you'll get to check out lots of gear in the vendor area and just generally have a good time.

Find a good team and offer to be a meatball/backup. You'll get lit up a lot, but you will become skilled at paintball far faster. If you play with the pros and do well, you are a pro.
