I saw the movie trailer on this thing. God the acting is terrible and plus its paintball!! How can you base a movie on paintball, the story line is totally wacked. The actors/actresses wear paintball masks that have the bottom part removed so you can see thier mouths move when they talk. Umm rright, i want to play paintball and have a paintball get shot down my throat and die.

Will it be made? Sure why not, it's not like only good movies are released(Jay and Silent Bob, Crossroads) None of the guys I play paintball with or myself have any desire to see it. Some things just weren't made for the big screen.

I think it would be possible to make a good paintball movie the only problem is that they don't have a proper budget. With more money and better actors (as 123justin said) one could incorporate paintball into a comedy. Personally I don't see how it is suppose to be this drama that the movie is going to be about.
So my 2 cents is that I think this movie will be garbage; but it is possible to make a paintball movie that is good.
again this is my opnion :blah:

Dammit dude, on the site they said the trailer was like that so you could see their reactions. In the real movie they will be using Raven masks. Make sure you know something before you say it....

Some things just weren't made for the big screen.
And sadly, paintball is one of those things.
This movie is probably not gonna be very good. The trailer sucked and it doesn't seem like much of a plot. :|
I do hope its good though.

Oh sorry, geez the trailer only shows them using thier cut-off masks. Have you even seen the trailer? Look at the acting its sooo damn bad. "I .... love... you...but....paintball is ruining our love life!" !?!?!??Are you reading this? Are you listening to this? Haha a paintball big screen movie with a paintball "CHI", one part of the story line is about a crappy paintball owner who has nothing to lose but wants to achieve "paintball chi" or something like that.

lets see some far out stuff. Like terrorists trying to take over a building, while down in the parking lot kids are playing paintball. Kind of like die hard, so the kids take out terrorists one by one by using only paintball guns. Thatd be clever and cool, not this bull****

I hope the movie will be good. IMO though somebody should make a movie/biography about Bob Long, Bud Orr, Tom Kaye, or even Durty Dan. Show how paintball has changed over the years. Not try a make a dramatic movie. Make a movie that shows how and why paintball is a great as it is. But that just my 2 cents.

You know how they used to have those little shorts before the feature presentation in the olden days. They should bring those back and show some short speedball games, thats about as far as you can take paintball on the big screen.

Well they do wear masks, just not in the trailer. See this is a photo from the site of when they were shooting a scene.

Here is something that I got off the website (www.speedballthemovie.com) on the trailer section:
"NOTICE******* The "Mock" trailer was put on this site to provide potential investors with a view of the sport of Paintball. The staff at Speedball Productions would like to warn ALL players to wear proper Paintball approved mask and goggles which includes full face and ear protection. ***Rest assured that ALL actors in this film will wear complete Face and Eye protection.------ REMEMBER...... Play Safe!"
I really dont think the movie is gunna be as pathetic as the trailer thought... at least, lets hope not!!

that includes the guy from home improvement.
it does look pretty pathetic though

Know what they should do? they should make it kinda like M.Jordan's story on the IMAX. No storyline just history and nice shots of real players at it. Maybe follow a team like the Push Video. OH well... lets hope the it will be better than the mock trailer.

I got an e-mail from the guy that was Q&A. The director says they are playing actual games in the movie, except the main people have to win. They play actual teams though. Ill post the whole e-mail.

I posted this a long time ago, here is the whole email.
the Q's are the questions being asked to the Director, then the Director answers it.
Q. Have you ever or do you now play the sport of paintball?
A. I have been a player for 10 years, and have been a member of "Thrill
Seekers",
"Shockwave", and "Tsunami".
Q. What led to the idea for creating "Speedball: The Movie"?
A. I wrote the script using my actual experience with the sport, and loosely
based
the characters around my experiences with the wide variety of people I have met
and
played with.
My underlying theme for this movie is that 'Mans's greatest obstacle is his own
self".
Q. What’s the target audience for the movie?
A. Young, Extreme Sports enthusiasts from age 12 to 60.
Q. Will the movie be seen in theatres or is it going to be distributed
differently?
A. The goal at this point is for the movie to premier in theatres, before bieng
released
on video. We have some support and funding from Paris, as well as support from
APG
and Paintball Magazine.
Q. I noticed a large influence of martial arts training in the synopsis…do you
see
a benefit of Martial Arts training as applied to Paintball?
A. I feel that the guidelines of martial arts and paintball are very much the
same.
I think that paintball is the martial arts of the 21st Century. Both schools of
thought
and training require the same self-discipline.
Q. What lead to the casting of Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Taimak Guari? What other
actors are you planning to interview for parts in the movie?
A. I selected him (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) because he has a recognized name in
martial
arts. He will be casted as the bad guy.
I chose Taimak Guari because he is a passionate, dynamic actor who was perfect
for
the role. I was also impressed by his work in "Last Dragon".
Q. Besides Oh Pawlak, who else is contributing technical advice to the movie?
A. I used Oh Pawlak, and I was considering Dave Youngblood for additional
advice.
Q. One of the characters is written as being addicted to drugs…what sort of
message
do you think that this sends to viewers?
A. It gives the audience the message that the characters are human. We all have
our
flaws to overcome. I believe that the characters need dimension in order to keep
the interest of the viewer.
Q. In my opinion, Paintball is a decidedly non-PC activity…what is your vision
for
making it more palatable to soccer moms?
A. This movie is non-militant. The players will be wearing jerseys instead of
camo
to give it more of a sports-oriented basis.
I expect to have dynamic, steady-cam footage, and CGI effects.
Q. I noticed a focus on the multicultural aspect of the team portrayed in the
movie…is
there a point to that?
A. This movie is based on my experience playing in Southern California. Look
around
here (SC Village), there are people from many different cultures.
Q. Is the script as written in the synopsis the final script, or is it subject
to
change?
A. The synopsis is subject to being re-written just like everything else is
before
he final edit..
Q. What sort of music do you envision being used in this movie?
A. Action music--120 to 140 bpm. Sneaker Pimps is interested in recording two
post-production
songs for the movie.
Q. Will the product placement agreements be written so that only one brand of
paintball
gun will be seen in the entire movie?
A. I would like for there to be as many 'guns possible in the movie, enough to
where
every charector could have his own personal 'gun, just like in real life where
people
have their own style, I would like to reflect that.
Q. When will the finished product be released, approximately?
A. It will be released next year.
Q. Were you aware of the link between the internet and paintball?
A. Yes I am aware of it.
Q. What would it take to be cast in the movie?
A. Tallent, Passion, I'm not looking for people who are merely good looking to
fill
roles, but people who actually play paintball, or who have played the sport.
Q. Are you using real teams to oppose the fictional team in the movie and offer
tech
support?
A. Yes, and all the extras seen in the movie will be players, not just cast
extras.
Q. Do you have an opinion on Full Auto Markers?
A. I don't feel that they should be allowed in tournaments.
Q. Do you have an opinion on camoflage vs. Jerseys?
A. I feel that it isn't really nesicary to wear cammo. I think that jerseys are
one
of the ways to bring the sport into the mainstream.
Q. Is it the player, or the gun?
A. The Player.

after watching the "mock" trailor about a month or 2 ago...i thought the movie was going to be one of those crappy straight to video movies, and seeing that they werent wearing full masks i was very angry thinking this would be like that cbs sitcom (king of queens, they made paintball seem very dangerous, i was extremely pissed and still am) but after reading that email that impygimpy recieved....i am now looking forward to it, it sounds like it has the potential for a good movie...plotline needs to be changed..no paintball chi is needed

If the real thing is any were near that mock trailer, it's going straight to video, than to clearance, than to good will :D But if the final trailer is any good i might invest in brass Eagle  their will be alot of newbs and newbs need markers, and thats were brass eagle comes in:D

Well.... if anybody's looking, here's BE's ticker symbol, kinda ironic, if you think about it.

Well, PooGas has a point. This thing, with a few script and plot changes, could revolutionize the way Pball is seen in the media. We can only hope that it's for the better.

after reading that, i'm now also looking forward to it.
it'll be good to see a movie made by somebody inside the sport.
i'll go see it. ofcourse it will get horrible reviews though, just because it's paintball. but they are always wrong anyways

Oh diety above, if there are any, please don't let this movie get made. I do want there to be a paintball movie, but from the initial concepts of this one, this really shouldn't be it. The characters are so contrived it hurts my head. The tag line doesn't compel me either: "In a world of competition, one team must face their greatest opponent: Themselves." Sounds like a freaking Disney special! Nothing good can come of this movie.
I know the "mock" trailer is merely conceptual, but that doesn't excuse the poor acting and cinematography. I would not pitch a paintball movie using a fourth-rate piece of schlock like that. Perhaps the very concept of a paintball movie rallied support with such fervor as to blind supporters of the fact that the movie as it stands truly blows. I sincerely hope they realize the error of their ways and revise the entire concept before proceeding any further.
Also, dohvb1, the Jay and Silent Bob movie was a series of in-jokes strung together so you really would have to have seen one, some, or all of Kevin Smith's prior movies to get most of the jokes. And now you know someone who doesn't use mind-altering substances.

well the only way to tell if this movie is going to be crap is to wait till it is released and watch it. i do like the idea about investing in BE though, after this movie is made (supprised BE isn't investing in the movie for that reason alone)
