A beavertail is the piece that hangs off the back of a rear cocking gun. On some guns it is attatched to the sight rail. It's purpose is to protect your face from the bolt moving back and forth.
Flanking is a move in rec. ball and i'll leave it up to somone else to answer since i'm not a huge rec. ball player but it has to do with moving on the outside of the field and trying to supprise people from the sides as opposed to just encountering them head on.

thanks for the info on the beavertail. i kinda assumed thats what flanking was but i wasnt sure. i read a lot of posts in the stories forum so i kinda guessed thats what flanking was.
Flanking is a manuever at which player A moves around and gets behind or beside player B. Works best if player B doesn't notice. :)

Flash forgot to point out that if Player B notices Player A attempting a flanking maneuver that it becomes an Anti-Flank, and often a "Oh Crap, How'd he know I was here" maneuver. :D
Don't beavertails help keep the cocking knob from breaking on cockers

flanking works best if player C is distracting or using "supressive fire" against player B while player A is moving into a flanking position. As long as player D isn't covering player B.

mtu_paintballer must get shot up a bit. Flanking means moving to attack from any direction other then head on. Yes it is best done without the notice of the other team but doesn't need to be. A team who is pinned down like buy a hoser type player or two can be flanked and eliminated by crossfire. It is not limited to rec ball it works great in tourneys against ppl. like mtu

Hey there is nothing wrong with being the team paint sponge. Anyways we never referred to "flanking" i guess we always called trying to to get someone from the side just that. We never get too technical with our terms, which is also why i siad i'd leave it up to someone else to answer. :)

Flanking also can mean movement into an exposed position on your target. Usually this means to the sides of your opponent. This enables you to have a direct shot at them while the target need to reposition themselves to get a direct shot at you.

beavertails are also required for tournement play along with velocity locks.

what Players A, B and C don't realise is that player D has a grenade launcher pointed at them ready to take out the flankers

well player A, B and C are not responding because they are taken out by player D with the morter. Player D is not responding because he is not on your team. Go figure

flanking in rec requires a lot of bush/tall grass crawling and reach around the side to get to your enemy's side/back and take him out without him knowing your position
basically a silent assasination
