how do i set up goldwave and do i need to buy a microphone or anything liek that to set it up? Or do i just upload the sound onto it?

Well, if you downloaded the software, you just import a recording of your marker firing, and then watch the file, and count each of the peaks of sound- your marker firing.

At the bottom of the scope (lines) you will see numbers that count in seconds, count the number of peaks per second, and you have an accurate CPS/BPS chart.

ok, when you say import a recording, do you mean specifically an audio recording or could I use a video camera?

import any sound recording (not sure about video) and it should pop up with the sound wave chart thing
