crikee! old freak back

I saw it in the FAQ.
I prayed I wouldn't get bit.
I did.
My old cocker freak back doesn't fit!
My old 16' SS boomstick does fit.


My freak back is over four years old. At least. I bought it used about that long ago.

The shaft before the thread is a little too wide.

Can anyone confirm if the new freak backs fit?

So I called up SP.
Talked to great guy named Kieth and told him I really didn't expect Sp to do anything about my old back (to which he agreed, 6month warranty and all) but wanted tp make a confirmation that the new backs fit.
Then he tells me to hang on while he confirms the issue with his manager and to see if there might be anything they could do for me.
Five minutes later, he is back on the phone and tells me to just send the old back in and they will send me a new one.
I must say, Smart parts customer service was fantastic.

Moral of the story,

Call the source directly, be nice, and sometimes a company will go the extra mile for you.

Smartparts is amazing despite what some other people say.
But yeah, I do find it strange that there is no universal dimensions for autococker threads.
