Does anyone know of a way to have a simple shutoff valve for macroline? I'm looking for something that performs the same function as a ball valve, but I can't find anything small enough. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

yeah, i have one for steel braid too. it's slightly too big.

Quick question, are you running HPA or Co2?

I ask becasue if you are running Co2, you need steel braided. Macro line is just not going to stand up to the pressures and temp issues of Co2.

I have seen many try it and they always have issues and are constantly replacing the macro line.

CO2. The factory A5 uses macroline to power the Cyclone.

Yeah, I've looked for something to use on a Response trigger before, so I can shut it off when I want with out taking it off, never found anything. Maybe if all of us Email Palmer, they'll make something for us.

that's actually exactly what i want it for. I figure if i can make this work, i can have a marker set up for a response trigger for when it's rainy or the e-grip is illegal or malfunctioning, and use the electronic trigger the rest of the time.

Come to think of it, there is a fitting that comes with the R/T that replaces one of the frame screws that has similar features to what would be needed, just with the wrong geometry.

I took your advice and shot them the following note. we'll see what they say.

Hello,
I was hoping that you might be able to help me. I am looking for a certain fitting/valve that I cannot seem to locate, if it exists. The paintball marker in question is a Tippmann A-5. I am looking for some sort of device that will allow me to shut off the airflow to a Response Trigger. This would allow the use of a different trigger frame without completely removing the line and hardware associated with the Response Trigger. My friends and I were thinking that some sort of in-line shut-off valve on the the R/T side of the T-fitting exiting the marker would do the trick. Unfortunately, the constraints for such a valve make it difficult to locate. It would have be able to hold up to the pressures exerted on it when closed, and ideally would be fairly small and easy to operate. If you have any alternative ideas, or have such a device that you feel could meet these demands, your input would be greatly appreciated. In my querying on the subject, I've encountered a few people that are interested to see if this could be accomplished, and at least one who might be interested in owning the modification.

These are the closest I can find, but they're still a little on the big side. Also, they're only supposed to handle 150 psi, and aren't rated for sub freezing temperatures, which concerns me with running CO2.

Yeah, let us know what Palmer says in return! If you find anything that'll work, let us know! I'll do the same!

Negative. They use microline. Same basic thing, but different uses and operating pressures.

But I hear what you are saying.

Have you looked at using the soft microline. Palmers sells it I am pretty sure. At least that is easy to pull on and off the barbs.

There are also cocker hose kits that have knurled pressure fittings so that , again, it would be easy to to just remove the line.

I would think a replacement t fitting with a shutoff for the RT would be the best solution, but I have never seem such a thing.

Good luck in finding what you are looking for.

mjr_paranoid, thanks for the info! Are you talking about some sort of replacement fitting for the existing t-fitting that has a selectable output? That's how I understood it. I was thinking about it, and that kind of thing would probably be even more convenient than an in line shutoff if they make it.

That was exactly what I was thinking would work best. Sort of like a very very small version of the t-fitting I put on my outdoor hose that has two outputs with thier own independant shutoff valves.

hmmm......maybe I should be copyrighting this idea...
Who am I kidding, I am too lazy to make something like that. But I think if such a thing were available it would sell a good amount of units.

Do you guys think I could work with any of these?

pinch valve:

toggle valve:

I was kind of leaning toward either a pinch valve or a check valve (and just turn it around depending on where I want the flow).

I have yet to hear from Palmer's.

May work, but would it wear out the hose?

I'm not sure how this works. But you will need two 10-32/___ barbs(fill the blank in with what ever size hosing you're using).

check valve:
http://www.specialtymfg.com/miniature_valves/cv_series_ck_valves/default.asp
This says 125psi. I'm not sure, but I think the pressure in the hose when you shoot is closer to 300psi.

1/8 ball valve:
https://www.palmer-pursuit.com/ecom/product_info.php/products_id/157?osCsid=c43b91dab7da1ec08054a96ba74c704a
This is 1/8 "NPT" this is the size of hosing that goes to you ASA.

Could work I guess, but you would have to plug one of the holes with a 10-32 plug and get two barbs.

Yeah, I've E-mailed them before and never got a response.:|

Well, exhaustive research has been done, and It turns out that the flow control fitting for the R/T can be used as the shutoff. The only problem is machining the E-grip frame to clear the R/T fittings. There's a thread on it at A5OG.net, but since you can't link to specific pages, you have to use the search button. If you're interested, go to A5OG and search for "R/t and APE board", but only search the titles, not the whole post.

There's also a description on how to do it on WARPIG. They did it simply because they were reviewing the marker, and the one they originally purchased was an A-5 R/T, but they wanted to test the E-grip as well. This part of the essay is about halfway down the page:
