I looked all over the forums, and I see a lot about these- but I just don't understand what HPR, LPR and dwell are..and where exactly they should be. Sorry guys, I JUST bought a speedball gun, need some help..thanks.

The LPR and HPR are the two regulators on your gun. a regulator takes air that comes into it at one pressure, and makes it a different pressure. Regulators take the air that comes out of your tank, which is at too high a pressure for the gun to use it, and lowers the air pressure to a pressure that is low enough for the gun to operate.
HPR=High Pressure Regulator. this is the first reg that the air goes into. On promasters it should be set to around 250psi. This is the air that comes out of the bolt to propel the paintball. The HPR (or "inline") is the foregrip on most electropneumatic guns.
LPR= Low Pressure Regulator. This reg takes some of the air from the HPR and lowers the pressure of this air further so that it is low enough to go through the solenoid, in the Promaster the LPR is set around 90psi. The solenoid controls the ram movement by redirecting air to move the ram back and forth, and it uses air from the LPR to do this. Not all guns have an LPR, the Shocker, Impulse and Ion are examples. The LPR is located directly under the barrel in most guns but in a few, such as DM's, it is located in the back of the gun.
Dwell is the solenoid "on" time, meaning the amount of time that the solenoid keeps the ram and bolt in the forward position. While they are in the forward position they release air which propels the paintball. So the longer the dwell time, the longer the bolt will be forward, more air will be released, and the velocity will increase. So basically higher dwell=higher velocity, but more air used so lower efficiency.
I used a promaster as an example, this explanation changes a little bit depending on the kind of gun you have (whether it is spool or stacked tube ram/poppet, whether it has an LPR or not, etc). but the general idea is the same regardless.
I cant tell you what your settings will be because I don't know what gun you have. If you have an ICD gun and need more info about it plz let me know what you have, if not I'll move this to the New Paintballers forum this thread is a little more at home over there. I hope my explanation made sense

Hey, thanks a TON man! It did make some sense, since two friends who know A LOT about paintballing showed me the internals in my gun yesterday, and showed me how to clean the o-rings in the HPR, LPR and the ram, I think? Wait, what's the Ram again? Ahh I'm learning so much that I'm getting really confused, but really thanks a lot- I just want to make sure I don't screw anything up, and I haven't yet found time to read SLOWELY through the manual, because I'm sure that will help a lot. I love these forums!
