I just bought a QEPH and it looks great on paper, but mine is not working. I have the E-Grip with the WAS board and set it to 20 BPS. I was able to fire a total of 10 balls with no chops or jams... then it just topped working all together. I had to pump it every time to fire a new shot. I thought that maybe the tank was low so i got a new one, one that was just filled the day before and hadn't been used. Still, the same problem. It fired like 2 shots then stopped working. I then took all the balls out and just watched the cyclone move as i shot. It was able to move for what would have been about 20 shots, then it just stopped and kinda spazzed back and forth for every shot after. The bottom line is that it has turned my A-5 into a pump gun. Any suggestions?

Check too make sure it's set up properly and your marker and cyclone are getting air. Also look at the sear pin to ensure that hasn't been damaged along with any and all airlines inside and out.

Moved to Tippmann forum.

Sounds like your Cyclone rachet might be hosed. When Tippmann designed it, and the A-5 I don't think they had people making the guns to shoot so fast in mind.

There are several aftermarket rachets out there that you can buy that should fix that problem.

You could also try adding a Quick Exhaust Valve (QEV) to the Cyclone to increase it's cycle speed a little bit.

Neither of those ups will be terribly expensive and they should get you up and running again.

Also consider trying the marker out with an HPA tank and seeing if the condition persists, it could just be CO2 freezing up the marker.

a QEV would be useless, the QEPH is like a QEV but TechT claims it works better than a QEV. and QEPH stands for Quick Exhaust Piston Housing

The QEPH is basically an internal QEV... and I hate tot ell you but not ALL A-5's like the QEV (and therefore the QEPH). It makes the cyclone operate at TOO LOW of a pressure, meaning that it won’t cycle properly.

Now, with a Palmer's QEV you can adjust how much/little the QEV vents (or doesn’t vent). This allows you to fine tune it for ANY application, therefore it will work with pretty much any marker. You can’t do this with the QEPH unfortunately.

Now there is another solution other then removing the whole thing...

Make it so that your cyclone will operate at a lower pressure. Do this by adding a JCS Jet-Click modification. You SHOULD get this mod anyway (as any cyclone owner should do). It will replace the Cyclone's internals (ratchet assembly, etc.). These pieces are always the first thing in the marker to die especially if you are using an RT or an e-grip. In fact they tend to go quite often and I the middle of a game putting you out of the action till you can replace the cyclone's ratchet!

The JCS Jet-Click replaces all of the stock plastic/rubber parts with aluminum, stainless steel and brass. It will NEVER wear out or break. ALSO, it allows you to shoot (the cyclone to load) MUCH faster without chopping or skipping balls! In fact when I had an e-grip'd A-5 with a palmer's QEV and a JCS Jet-Click I was able to shoot at 25BPS without a single pop, shop, or skipped paintball!

Oh, and did I mention that you will be able to run the Cyclone PROPERLY at a MUCH lower PSI? In fact the Cyclone would still feed properly at as low as 500PSI... that means it would still feed balls at a lower PSI then at what the A-5 would actually shoot a ball!

You get all of this for 25-30 bucks to boot (depending on where you get it).

The JCS Jet-Click does basically the same thing as the Tech-T Vortex mod, but it does it BETTER, and its MUCH easier to install! The JCS installs without ANY force and is accomplished in as little as 10 minutes. the Tech-T Vortex takes TWO people to install, a HAMMER and pliers (to get the pins in.. the same pins which gently slide into place without ANY force in the JCS unit).. And an EXPERIENCED installer can get it in, in MAYBE half an hour. The first time I put one it, it took me a full hour. The first time I put a JCS Jet-Click in it took me less then 15 minutes... and I didn’t need any tools other then a screw driver.

You can look up the JCS Jet-Click in the reviews on this site... but trust me. It’s a MUST HAVE for ANY Cyclone owner (A-5 or otherwise), and it will solve your problems and prevent other problems down the road. All while allowing you to shoot at or VERY near 25BPS without a single chip or skip.
