View Full Version : A-5 is being really stupid

My A-5 with HPA is not re-cocking itself when I fire with either the mech trigger or the e-grip. I have taken it apart and cleaned, lubed, everything and checked for all the pieces, I later found out that the rear o-ring, the one that goes behind the hammer, was missin and put a new one in and that still did not fix the problem. The marker just won't re-cock, it just farts out even when the gauge reads 2000psi. I have had output problems with the tank and I'm gonna go get it fixed but when I put it on my 98C it worked, it only had velocity problems. I have tried the tank with it on-gun and with the remote. It still won't work...I am having brain farts like crazy and just can't seem to put my finger on the problem.....I just went outsude to see if the velocity screw was the problem....it wasn't. It still did the same thing, fart out......

check the sear and the catch on the hammer where the sear engages it. I bet either one of those is worn. they should have fairly square corners. also check the sear springs. if you were missing a rear o-right, it could have displaced one of those springs.

Do you have any cracked parts like the Power tube or bolt. Your obviously not getting enough blow-back.

The sear could be worn, Check this out first. You might want to take a picure of it and post it up.

I say it has to do with the air output of your tank.

i dont think its the sear in this case because hes tried 2 different grips.

do you have co2? try that and see if it works, then you will know for sure if its the tank or not which is my guess.

good point. i'd still check the hammer though if changing to CO2 doesn't fix it.

I had that issue and replaced the rings in my palmer(reg) and solved the issue. The other is true-sear replacement and rear bolt/o ring replacement. CALL TIPPMANN form now on as they will replace all parts no question and they will know the issue. To boot there is a upgraded sear now if you have an electronic frame. just call them from now on

I am almost sure that it was the output of my tank and I was not getting enough blowback pressure to re-engage on the sear and I did look at the sear and rear bolt and nothing looked out of the ordinary. The reason I can't put CO2 in it right now is because I used my last $5 to fill my HPA tank. No, the powertube or anything like that is cracked, I even checked the internals in the power tube and everything was fine. I am about 90% sude it's my tank, I hope it is, at least I have a backup 98 that works fine. I went to the place to get it filled and they said the nipple was messed up so the took one of the internal o-rings out from inside the reg and replaced it with some other one that didn't fit too well so I am going to take it back and see if they can fix it again....thanks for your suggestions.

I found some CO2 and hooked it up, still did not work. Put it in my 98 and it worked fine, I just have absolutely no clue what is wrong with my A-5, I am getting soo pi**ed off at it....aghhh.

Did you check the sear? if it does not latch all it will do is fart out

You could always try A5OG.net. They have an ungodly amount of info on A5 problems.
