I walked into the shop to buy a 98 Custom and Flatline barrel. The shop owner was out of Flatlines and talked me into a Boom Stick. Now....I'm going to stick with the Boom Stick, but my question concerns necessary length. Mine is 18".
I've heard that the ball accelerates for about 12 inches and then gets pushed out the remainder of the barrel. If this is so....boy, do I have a bunch of extra barrel to deal with!
Just how much barrel is too much versus being beneficial to accuracy? The Boom Stick is an extremely accurate barrel, but right now I'm thinking that I would do fine dropping down to a 14" - a much nicer weapon size to maneuver without sacrificing accuracy. But then, heck, I'm extremely green at paintball and am going on what I think is common sense.
Your thoughts and opinions on this are greatly appreciated. I have not show paint through this barrel yet and can return it for a shorter barrel, but I'd like to do it soon. We've a tourney coming up! :)
