Ok so I admit I'm a paintball addict and I love the sport. I cant afford to play each weekend like I wish I could. However I lvoe being on the field. So I started reffing recently and I loved it. Ok so there are soem downsides. But hey you get to be in the middle of the action, promote the sport, get shot, and get paid for it.
Yesterday was the icing on the cake though. The ref I was working with and being trained by (I was a new ref to the field I have played and reffed off and on since 1992) told everyone at the briefing that he'd give people $10 to shoot me since it was my first regular day. Well after being overwhelmed by responces he back off. However at this point the monkey started his scheming. He didn't get to be this old without being crafty and sneaky. Well it came down to the last game an ironman on the Xball field. I tried to get the entire orange team to shoot at him on the break but well they chickened out LOL. I tried to borrow a gun from someone but well they didnt want to give it up lol
However this one girl I'd been talking with thoroughout the day came into the game and helped me out. I had asked for a few shots in his direction with maybe oen or two hitting him. Well she fired off about 9 shots from long range and tagged him with all of them. He got a coupel kidney shots and some zingers. I almost felt bad. Well almsot since he had originally had about 20 people wanting to shoot me. I walked over and he was like man thats not even right dont even try to make up to me. I told him see what happens when ya pick on your elders. We didnt get this way without learning a few tricks.
Well when I told the other refs they about died laughing. He got razzed so much and I scored points with the other guys. Even my manager got a good laugh out of it.
I havent had as much fun at a paintball field in a long long time. And I got enough money to pretty much pay for my next time out.
