O ring on barrel

HEllo i just have one quick question. On my spyder compact on the stock barrel there is an o ring near the threads. Why is there not one on the newer barrels? thank you.

If you notice your barrel unscrewing after a long string of shots or several games then stick an oring on there. If not, don't worry about it.
