I am looking for a new paintball gun for woodsball. I have been looking at Tippmanns: mainly the Tippmann 98 Custom. I need a gun with good accuracy and range. I don't need a gun with a high rate of fire. I guess I'm looking for a gun more like a rifle than a submachine gun. I have been looking at barrels for a Tippmann 98 Custom. I came across the Dye Ultralite and the Smart Parts Freak Jr. Barrel Kit. Which would y'all recommend? Thanks in advance everyone!

If you want a gun thats more rifle than smg go with the pro carbine. You can get it off ebay for like 50 bucks, and it accepts a5 barrels so you have the same barrel options. Id go with the Smart Parts Freak jr all the way. The Dye is more expensive and both have about the same performance

I don't want the pro-carbine, when I said that I was looking for a gun more like a rifle than an smg, I mean that I wanted a gun more for accuracy and such than the rate of fire. Also, thanks for the help on the barrel choices!

I say that all the 98's and the A-5's are good. They don't shoot too fast but good enough that requires aiming then spraying. As for accuracy, guns don't really make the accuracy, although they do play an important part. It is more the barrel. Considering you want range and a more "rifle" type marker, I would say get a flatline barrel. They are relatively accurate, that is if you don't shoot horizontally. I believe the flatlines add either 50ft or 100ft and are relatively the same price as freak jr.

Freak Kit: allows you to match the bore size exactly to your paint size allowing for optimum accuracy. You just have to buy the variety of inserts for the paint you want to use.
Dye: 1 bore size so you will have to match the paint to your barrel which is not as easy and it wont allow for optimum unless you just find a perfect match.

I have the Freak Kit and would not trade it for any other barrel out there. Go Freak Kit, boo Dye.

Did you know a freak kit with an AA tip can have an Apex tip attatched?

So you can have both.

I think any tippmann you get is good for woodsball. As for the barrel, a kit is a bit better to match paint if your playing different fields. They usually cost more money. Get the kit if you have the money.
