It's in june.

Get him an ion & a tank, used of course. That should be about $200.

LOL No, it is in June.

well he may like the EVO you can get it at actionvillage in your price range.
He can still use the CO2 tank and a Gravity feed hopper with it.

I'd say get a VS2 if you already have HPA.

he plays woodsball and speedball, i was thinkin an a5 or an autococker of some kind, i really dont want to get him a spyder. on th ion issue i already have one as u can see from my sig, and i hate how they play until u mod them a bit. but so far very helpful so keep them comin.

you can't serve two masters. Either get a speedball gun or woodsball. Now if you just want one that he's going to play with twice a month for fun then just search for the best deal under 200. 98, mr1, you don't like Ion or spyder so what else is left for under 200?

If he likes to tinker get him and autococker.

well ill most likely be handeling all the maintenance on his gun, hes a busy guy. so my question is, on the new trilly pro. is the maintenance very complicated. cause i can handle routine stuff i just dont wanna spend hrs on cleaning, oh and are the trilly series tough physcally cause my dad usually isnt very gentle on his guns wen he plays.

The Trilogy is easy to maintain.

I dropped mine a bunch of times (by accident) and it still works.:)

There's a sticky about them in the Worr games forum.

I'd suggest a used Ion. You already have one, just buy a slightly upped one for $200 and he will be fine. The parts are interchangeable so you will have spare parts, you already have knowledge and experience with the gun so it will be easy to troubleshoot, and you're not taking a risk when you're buying the Ion. Used and upped Ion FTW.

I would get something new, just because it is a bit off to give used presents unless it something big like a car.

Why does everyone have to suggest a friggin' ion?! He clearly stated HE DID NOT WANT ONE. Get a VS2 as it does beat down the ion in every way. But...get your dad an automag. For about 200 on unamarket(i think) you can get a minimag or a 68 classic(i think)

im def. getting a new gun as somone said b4 i dont want to give a used gun. So ive narrowed it down to either an a5 or trilly pro. so out of those two which is better. Remember to , my dad isnt very gentle with his guns, and ill be handling maintenance, but honestly i just want to get him the better gun of the two. so which is it??

A5's are really hardy guns and can take a beating, the trilogy will be more upgradable, and the pro comes with a barrel kit. It depends for woodsball probably the a5 for more speedball, rec ball the trily is a better choice. It is really up to you.

Why is that? I've yet to see a good speedball gun that wasn't able to play well in woodsball. Speedball guns tend to be light, fast, and small....aren't these valuable traits in the woods as well?
Woodsball guns tend to be...well....military looking....

Out of the two guns, both are hardy, well made guns. Be warned, the 'cocker is the better choice of the two from a raw performance standpoint, and it's also reliable. But it does require that you get some 'cocker knowledge under your belt and you'll likely have to learn how to time it. Maintenence is easy and cockers can go for a long time with only basic routine maintenence. The downside is that if something isn't working right for some reason, and you don't know a lot about cockers, it might take a lot of learning to fix it.
The A-5 will work no matter what, it's simple and reliable. But it's not a huge upgrade to what your dad is packing now. In fact, I'd personally rather have the Xtra than the A-5, but that's just me. The other downside is it's kind of a large gun for speedball, though I've seen them used in speedball before...it just tends to be a bit on the large size.

Have you considered making the Xtra stretch one more year and getting your dad a HPA tank? The next year (or Xmas) if he has a nice HPA tank, that means you have a lot more options open for a new gun. The HPA would benefit him both immediatly and long term. That's my vote anyway. That or the 'cocker if you know what you're doing with them.

hey ebonclaw, thx other than you none gave me the basic answer to my question, i personally wanted to get him the cocker, its a sweet gun. i have a question though would it be bad to run it on c02 cause as of now we have 3 20ounce tanks floatin around the house. we could always buy an hpa tank, but i heard cockers run o fine on c02, also should i get an o4 vert cocker or the trilly pro sf, or just the standard trilly pro???

I'd personally get the pro, 04's are a little bit....um...3 years dated?
They can run on Co2, but I personally wouldn't run one on Co2 in cold weather...busting an internal o-ring in a cocker can be a lot of fun to fix, but as long as you're playing in semi-warm weather and aren't getting frosties out of your barrel, I wouldn't worry...they were desigend to be Co2 tolerant of course.
HPA is always a better choice for any gun, but good tanks can be downright expensive. If you really want to get him a new gun and don't mind learning 'cockers, then I'd say go with the 'cocker. Ions hate Co2 more than 'cockers do and I'm assuming you're doing just fine with the Ion.
I woulnd't get the A-5 because it's not really any better performancewise.

Get the SF pro. Same as the pro but electronic which always out does a mech.
