Click your mouse. That is what an electro trigger is like. Some are even shorter and crisper. You can fire faster and some electros run at a lower pressure and come with better features than other markers (excluding mags, cockers and such).

Well, I have heard good things about the BlackDragun. Its possibly, the best electro for its price. Better than most other semis with electronic frames. One thing I do know is that the m98 is a great newbie marker. Its EXTREMELY durable. its like a tank.
electro semis are kinda easier to snap fire and lay down high bps. with an m98, you can get 9bps about once you get good. with the dragun, you can shoot a lot faster. if you are deciding which to get, I highly suggest the m98 as a first time marker. That was my first gun.

Go to your local field (or shop) when there are lots of people playing, and ask some people to try out their markers. That is absolutely the best way to determine what you do and do not like about performance and comfort.

Markers don't "blow each other away"...

The Black Dragun and the Tippy 98 are both reasonable priced starter markers. The Dragun shoots faster. That on it's own means jack. You won't really know how gear matches your playing style until you play several times

I play with a Phantom with custom mods. Pumps represent less than 1% of the markers where I play. All day long I am faced with the challenge of shooter that can lay down 5 times the paint I can. I have to do different things than the average guy out there to make myself dangerous. I know the fields, I take charge, and I am a good teamate. It is these qualities that make me one of the most respected guys at the field, not my gear.

The size difference between the 2 guns is also another factor - the m98 is huge when compared to a Spyder (Black Dragun has a Spyder body).

I currently have a m98 and don't like it for indoors speedball - I find that its bulk gets in the way. A gun like the Black Dragun would be easier to use indoors, and is MUCH easier to shoot and shoot quickly. I got the chance to play with a friend's Black Dragun and it was a pleasure compared to the M98 - I was able to move easily and get off quick shots when I needed to. Outdoors, the m98 is great - very comfortable to use and it will take more abuse than most others on the market. If you plan on playing mostly in the woods I would argue for the m98.

as much as i hate M98s (i don't like the way they feel) i'd say u should get one. A new player needs to get a reliable sturdy gun. Plus alot more people know how to fix them.

Tippy, Piranha, spyder anything that you wnat to get will work. Ive heard those 3 are reliable so it should make a good choice.

I agree with anchorite. Ideally you should use friends' markers to see if you like them, but if you can't do that, then you'll have to just choose one. I am new to paintball and I played a few times, experimented with different markers and decided that the electronic trigger frame was great, so I bought a Black Dragun. No disappoinment!

Okay, the kid said he was a Newbie, which probably means he isn't too good at paintball yet. So lets say he gets a Black Dragun. He learns how to point a marker a click a mouse. He's gonna shoot off paint into nothingness, and waste money. He's gonna have to buy a revy. But most imporantly he's not gonna develop any accuracy at all. However on the other hand, if he starts off with a low end pump. He is gonna aim his marker at who he's shooting at, pump it, and pull the trigger. That's called learning. Plus he's gonna save on paint. Sure the kid with the Black Dragun will kill the pump the first few times out, but after a while, they'll both be on pretty even footing. Then the kid with the pump will buy a good gun, and slaughter the kid who started with the Electro. Simple as that. A newbie with a pump isn't supposed to be good, but he will get alot better faster. A newbie with an electro will be able to spray everything, but will not get better quickly.

Just my 2 cents on newbie paintballing anyway

Point well taken--skills are more important than equipment. No one should assume that a high-level gun will make up for a lack of skills or accuracy. If he just wants to spray paint all over the place, the Black Dragun will let him do it, but he won't get any better because of it. On the other hand, if he's serious about developing his playing skills, I don't see how a Black Dragun, or a different marker with an electronic trigger frame, or any other trouble-free marker could hold him back.

Ares, you can't go wrong with any of your choices, so you won't be "kicking yourself for weeks" if you make your decision, buy a marker, go out and start having fun.

SPEED

it is much easier to pull and fire an electro than a mechanical gun so it is much faster. that is the main adavantage.
