At www.ballisticsports.com they have milled 98c's. They are milled right in front of the front bolt at the ball chamber. They claim this will increase the rate of fire from 5 bps to like 14 bps from getting rid of the blow back that disrupts the ball feeding. But isn't this blow back needed to recock the gun making it the semi-auto it is. Any input would be appreciated.

Treat the newbies right, especially since I'm one.

From the ballistic sports website.

We have taken the Tippmann Model98 Custom and upgraded it's performance for you. By milling the ball chamber we remove all of the blow back that disrupts the feeding of paintballs. In stock form from Tippmann the Model 98 Custom is rated at only 5 balls per second. By having this milling done it will increase the maximum rate of fire possible to around 14 balls per second when used with a motorized hopper. We also added an anodized rear velocity adjuster to make your gun more efficient. With a total of $80 worth of upgrades for only $50 this is a very good deal. Retailing for $260 this is a very inexpensive kit at $180 + shipping.

They're a crooked company who's entire inventory is stolen... no joke. From upgrades to what ever, nothing is their idea. All been stolen.

And from 5 to 14? Pffft, right. There's hardly any excess blowback gas any ways. This is just the 98 customs' version of "milled gills" as we all know and love from www.m98center.com . It will make the gun loud, very vulnerable to dirt, debris, and paint shots, there's no real benefit.

Ok, here's a cheaper, easier, and better way to do this. If you want, Just drill 2 or 3 1/8" holes in your elbow. One on either side, and if wanted one on the back. This will effectively eliminate the excess blowback gas, will increase feed rate slightly (sorry, but they're filling you with bull**** saying 5 to 14bps.. how surprising from that company?), and will be better than "milled gills" because you will have a smaller amount of area for a paintball shot. And also very small chance of getting dirt/debris in the chamber. And will also keep the guns' noise down. Overall, it's just better than "milled gills."

**Side note. Rear Velocity Adjustors do NOT help efficiency contrary to popular belief. An RVA will help consistency from shot to shot, not efficiency. Again, what would you expect from that company?
They don't think of their own ideas, you think they'll know what they're talking about?

Exactly why you'll NEVER see any Ballistics Sports products at CountyPaintball.com.

Most of their product line was stolen from Psycho Ballistics. They even tried to steal the company name. Pathetic.

Matt, that really depends. As long as the velocity screw is out, yes. It will help efficiency, very slightly.
However, a lot people have it screwed in most of the way even with the RVA, so the efficiency isn't really a benefit.

So it's not that the RVA helps efficiency, it's that people that take advantage of it remove the velocity screw enough to allow a better airflow.

Thanks for the input I had no idea Ballistic sports are such *******s. And to think I just was about to get their spee-t-cocker but went for the rocket cocker instead.

Also NoNames how do you tell if your 98 has blowback or not?

Tissue paper test.

Gas up the gun, put a piece of tissue paper over the elbow. Pull trigger once. If it doesn't move, you're good. If it shoots off, then you have blowback gas.

I've never looked into this test. I don't know how correct/scientific it is. But I hear of people doing it, so I figured posting it.

Hey meph! WTF???? How do you know ballistics sports sells stolen stuff?? But you are right about the milling crap on the gun.

They didn't steal the stuff. They just stole the ideas for making them. Look at their lineup? Does it resemble a lot of the same items from Psycho Ballistics to you?

I'm all for new companies with their own ideas. I'm not really fond of companies who rip off other's ideas.

Hey Mike, Sorry but I missed your first post in this thread. I guess you are kind of right and I completely understand why none of that stuff is sold on your site. Oh and by the way I just ordered a pyscho ballistics double trigger and drop forward for my tippmann and your service was great! It got here the day after it was shipped out with ups ground!!! Thanks and I have already planned to buy a fulll boar shadow flush cocking kit and revvy from your site.
