I am getting into the tournament scene and I want to know approximately how much paint a team would need to expect for a tourney. The scenario would be 5 on 5 in a speedball course, like sup'air and hyperball setups. I just want to know about how much you shoot per game and what position you play, thanks.

i am at the same level you are. I play right or left tape and shoot around a hopper each game. Keep in mind im only shooting a shutter with revy. I would say expect to shoot at least a hopper and a tube.

I agree with Cardboard. I carry a hopper and 3 tubes. At the most I have only used two of the tubes, but I usually only use about 1.

Thanks guys, you have been very helpful. I carry 3 140's but I'll probably only end up shooting one or two pods plus my hopper.

Then you should be fine. I carry a full hopper plus a guppy.

Playing front you really won't need that much paint. I carry 3 pods at the max for a 5man tourney, Sometimes less. I usually only end up shooting a Hopper and a pod. unless the games carry on for longer which at that time i'll shoot 2 pods.

Playing back is totally different. A Back man's job is to shoot paint & lots of it. I've had Back players shooting around 5-7 pods a game for 5 man. Depending on the length of the game of course
I alway's tell'em to carry 7 incase.

In most tourneys (and practices) I shoot my hopper and usually put all 3 pods in my marker.

I play right tape, and constantly have to lay paint for myself or my flag runner (this is 5 man games).

but pan am It is limited to 200 balls.

Man, it sure would be nice to be able to shoot 3 or so pods a game, but with the cost of paint, that would be killer on anyone's budget. I haven't played much hyperball lately, but speedball seems to burn up paint very quickly.

Don't have that Kinda attitude, If you play Budget ball, its not gonna win you any tournies. If you don't have the money to play big tournies right now. I'd say, Stay small, do 3man's until you can do tournaments without worrying about cost.

yea... phantom ref has a good idea.
do what he says.

you shouldnt be playing tournaments, of any kind though, if you cant afford paintball.
I spend about $60 a week on paintball (on paint, practice fees, etc)

Oh no, I CAN afford paintball. It's my goofball friends that can't even scrape up enough money to go every other weekend w/o selling something. And I'd much rather play on a team w/ friends cuz it's a lot more fun, so I guess I'm kinda screwed?

I know where your coming from. Playing with friends is always more fun than being new to a team and having to get to know everbody.
What you can do to help your friends and your team out is raise some money together. Wether it be doing bottle drives, working bingo's, Car washes, Hosting Cabaret's(asuming your of legal age), Hosting Tournaments, reffing at your local field...etc.

Then open a Team account and Deposit money into this account when you raise money for the team. That will help buy paint, entry fee's, Team jersey's or whatever else you wanna use it for.

Just make sure you make it a type of account(i forget the specific name for it) where you all have to be there to withdrawl money. That way you'll be sure no-ones skimming off the account for personal use.
Unless you totally have trust in your teammates.

Yeah, those are some really good ideas. I'll look into it, reffing at a local field would be awesome, I have a few connections too. I have full trust in my friends though, I mean I've known some of them for 10+ years and so forth. Because I REALLY want to play tournies.
