Wha???

What's your budget?

For a one piece barrel, I recommend a J&J Ceramic or Proto One-piece or Dye UL. For a kit, I'd recommend a J&J Edge Elite kit.

Need I say more? :-)

If I'm not mistaken, Impulses are Ion threaded as well, correct?

If Dye UltraLites are found on a website, then in their drop-down menus, they should have a selection for Ion/Imp.

No, Ions are Impulse threaded, but yeah, they're the same.

Agreed, they are having great deals on pipe kits.

I picked one up as well in cocker threads to replace an old one I unwisely sold off a few years back.

Pipes are great performers and are also(in my opinion) very sexy looking kits.

And yes, they come in impulse/ion threads.

I also like the freak, but not for impulse threads.
On cocker threads the freak inserts are loaded from the bottom up, but I am pretty sure on the impulse back you need to split the barrel and load them from the top down.
Can anyone confirm or deny that?

I own both cocker and impulse/ion threaded backs. I think you can load the insert from the bottom on the imp/ion threaded back, at least thats how i do it. But my imp threaded back is not the 07 version, that might be the reason.

Nah you can load it from the bottom on Imp threads too from what I remember, never heard of it having to be done the other way. Iactually found my stock Ion barrel to be better than my Freak though, and I was pretty sure the paint was matched well too. CP is supposed to be very good and the Pipe kit too for cheap.

The tippmann a-5 back is a definate confirmed top down load on the freak.

do angel threads fit on an A-5 because the evil pipe kit on first call paintball doesn't seem to come in a-5 threads.

HAhah, well, I kinda meant as buying a barrel, not a kit. See where I'm goin', Rippin'? :-)

acsarver, yes, they'll fit, but you'll need Impulse/Ion threads on that UL.

EDIT: a5domination, NO, the Angel threads will not fit on your A5. But, I think Lapco makes adapters for Angel to A5... Not sure, but see if you can find an adapter. An adapter defeats the purpose of a kit, though.

it depends on your price range. if you dont want to spend a ton on a barrel, then i would go with the j&j ceramic or the all-american. if money isn't an issue, i would recommend the Ultralight or the stiffi.
sly's and freaks are also good choices.
