i guess id have to say a spyder. they make good beginer guns and have tons of upgrades. but if you want to spend a little more for an easier gun to use, id reccomend the ICD thundercat. they are some of the most trouble free guns and are a breeze to clean. nothing fragile to break or bend. but they aren't the absolute best gun for a begginer. it all depends on what features you want.

Either a spyder or pirahna. Stay away from rebels. Mine broke, and I had a hell of a time replacing the broken part that was under warranty.

if you get either a spyder (insert random model) or a model 98 custom, it doesn't matter.
what does matter, is that they're EVERYWHERE, and so are their parts.
you can't go wrong with either. I say buy the 98 custom. I like mine. it's a great backup.

I did. It took multiple calls and an angry letter to finally get them to send the part. Overall it took 4 weeks for them to send me a bolt pin. 4 weeks!!! I called them and they said the pin would be at my house within a week. A week went by and I called again. I just found the customer service to be horrible. So now I refuse to use 32° products unless I have too.

Im going to have to say a spyder over a M98. I owned both at one time in life (my brother still has his m98) and I like spyders better because, while Tippman builds things that are strong as a rock, a M98 is much more compicated to work on, clean and maintain than a spyder. Don't flame me you 98' owners, they are great guns, but if you only have a few minutes you want to allowcate to maintain someone elses marker, spyders are the way to go.
Plus, if you have to take apart a m98 at the field, you really run the risk of losing something, spders only have like 6 parts.

Ya get a Spyder!!:D I got a rebel and it was the biggest mistake. I thought yippy im getting a "good" gun for under $90! When i got it it didnt even work out of the box!! I retured in and my Spyder is on its way!!!! BTW its a sonix!

i can clean my 98 in a few mins, but u have to have a lack of life and much-o spare time-o. but u can go w/o oiling for months on heavy use, and itll keep shootin. granted, it wont shoot as well as an oiled one, but still. if ur bro destroys things constantly or is lazy, go m98. spyders are great too. maybe a little (notice i said little) more touchy.
also just show him both and let him shoot em. they have different feels to em, so its his pref.

there should be no reason to open it on a field. they just dont brake down.

They might not break down very easily...but are you saying that you'll never have to replace an o-ring?
Like 2k1AngelShooter said, stuff will happen.

Exactly, not very often, but it does happen.

I'd say spyder of M98. i say this becuz the first time my brother took his apart to clean it he forgot a part. the M98 is A LOT more complicated then the Spyders. I'd say get either a Piranah or Spyder. both are GREAT spyder guns and if he gets into it he can upgrade like mad

id say get a piranha over the spyder and m98
the piranha is basically the same as a spyder, but are made in the u.s. and the bottom line threads are standard 1/8 and the bottom line asa screw pattern is the standard hole in front of the other, that means if you ever wanted to slap a drop forward on it its 20x easier than finding one that fits a spyder, and you can pick up a nice piranha (blue, black, or red) with a verticle feed, and a bottom line for 98 bucks at pbgear.com and you could easily slap multiple upggrades on it as you go on and even a storm frame on it if you need more firepower instead of buying a $500+ electro gun
i should have bought a piranha first instead of buying a spyder, then moving to a cocker (look at sig, its worth like 750 bucks and i still dont like it) i could have bought a piranha in the beginning and slapped a storm frame on it and would be perfectly happy

skip all the bs and go cocker

for a first marker?!?!?! are you crazy?? Cockers are really complex. Dude, let him get a nice spyder, pirahna or m98 first. Then let him upgrade to a cocker, impy or mag.

Since it's his first gun i would recomend a pump. One if he's a complete newb he can't waste a lot of paint thereby allowing him to play alot more b/c he doesn't run through half a case a day or whatever. Also it's cheaper. Basicaly i got my brother a m98 custom for his first gun, he burns through paint and comes whining to me when it's all gone. Then I'm usually the one who takes it apart and cleans it for him. I kick myself when i think how easy it would've been just to get him a pump. But if your brother is older and more mature than mine then you probably wont have this prob. But a player does learn a lot when he has to make every shot count.

Heck, sometimes the pumps are just fun to bust out!!! I'm thinking about getting into stock class stuff!

you could get one of those spyder classics. Those triggers are so hard your not going to waste a lot of paint. Or a Spyder TL+.

One of my friends has an F4. He's had many problems, and 2 separate times (the last 2 times he's gone to play) he's had to go to his backup, since it didn't want to work.
tippmann 98 custom or a spyder. either way, you can't go wrong with those 2.

Dont listen to any of these other people. Get him a Tippmann Model 98. They run for about $120 and work well off of co2(even in cold weather). Also they have a great stock barrel(alittle loud) but they are very accurate and the gun does not break paint. Now when he gets older he can get a good barrel at a cheap price a suggest a custom parts 1 piece and he can drop in a response trigger kit for $80. The response trigger allows full auto like abilites that go up to 10 ball per second. Get a Tippmann Model 98 Custom, they are perfect.
PS: YOU CAN BEAT ON THEM AND THEY WONT BREAK!!!

no. no, no no no, and no again. the stock barrel on the tippmann 98c SUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS.
the impulse. the orracle. the dye cocker. the EM1 (otp).
these have good stock barrels. the barrel on the 98c is such a piece of garbage.

I agree, m98's barrel is TERRIBLE. God, tippys are cool and all but there is ALOT of good markers out there as well.
