Do you use a remote?
if yes, then a stock "might" be useful.
Do you use a flatling+remote? Then yes, a stock "might" help.
Stocks, for the most part, are "look cool" additions.
I use a JCS folding combat stock, and really only unfold it when long balling, or want a more stable shooting position.
Just incase you are thinking about going milsim, http://www.a5og.net/

i got the pcs folding stock and it helps with aiming. The only draw back is you need long arms and it adds alot of weight. If you can hold a heavy gun and have long arms this is good for you.

Thanx but what if you play upfront?

If you get a stock you need a remote line.
Some may argue about that, but they would likely be communists or Canadian and therefore can not be trusted.:dodgy:
A stock plus an ASA mounted tank is just unweildy and awkward.
As far as will it help? Well, yes a little if you run a remote with no stock normally.
I almost always run my tippmann on a remote and I will occasionally use a short trinity wire stock just to get a little more stability.
But I would say it is totally up to you and what feels comftorable.
I find snap shots are easier for me with no stock or tank on the end my marker. But takes a bit more practice and strength to be able to pull it off.
Not tooting my own horn, I am certainly no hulk, but I am much more tired and sore in the arm area shooting like that.

i find stocks are extremely helpful with keeping the gun level which helps with balls flying off from side to side with the flatty. pretty much the only reason i use a stock.

the one thing that bugs me about paintball stocks is that they all are trying to look mil-sim, and it's rather ridiculous since with a rifle you need a stock to take the powerful kickback, but with a paintball, you just need something comfortable, that rolls well onto the shoulder, very lightweight, just something to aim with; but all the ones i see look like copies of military weapon stocks and if you aren't going for mil-sim (and personally i want to distance paintball as much as possible from warfare) then it's frustrating

i have a gas-thru stock, which i like alot because its most like using the tank as a stock (which everyone is accustomed to) but without the weight, plus it can go on any marker, so its not just limited to ur a5. also you can take it off without taking apart ur gun

actually i run my air on gun, and have a stock but the air is reverse mounted so the reg is facing towards me, works out good that way

if u're gonna get a stock to play speedball, its a waste of money, get a drop forward, it will help to balance the gun

Yea unless ur going for looks I wouldn't get a stock simply because you can't aim. Go with a drop forward for performance. But I guess a lot of people really don't aim and they just shoot in a direction and then adjust from paintball to paintball. It's really up to you. I hope this helps. It really didn't point you in one direction or another I just kind of stated what I would and wouldn't use a stock for. I hope it helps.

I agree, and also most stocks (at least for Tippmanns) do not take into consideration that players will be wearing goggles, of which, bump into the stock when trying to aim.
So here is your stock that is not mil-sim, is lightweight, and allows you to sight down your marker without the mask bumping into it:

There are 2 types of stocks really. The End Cap stocks and the stocks that are connected by the bottom ASA connector.
The End Cap stocks, like everyone says, will not let you look through your sights. If you use a scope, you would need to get a raised sight rail. to be able to use your sights.
The ASA Stocks will let you use your sights, these stocks also may feel more comfortable to other players, because where it levels your gun, is usually where you would put your gun anyway. For example, to use your sights with the tank attached, you would tuck it in near/under your shoulders, which would be around the same area where your asa stock would place your gun.
Stocks may be useful for mid-range players. For close range players it might not be that great. But i play on a field that allow marker hits to not actually count as a hit. So to me, that is a plus. More cover :D BUt you can always get an foldable stock.

granted my old man now owns her, the jcs wire stock from www.bp-usa.com only weighs just under a pound and folds out of the way. it's a bit long for most people(they have adjustable ones) i find it super comfy and it has the natural point of aim

Yeh i love my stock on my A-5. I have a response trigger and a flatline and the stock ( liberty 6 postition stock ) is super good help for accurate aiming. And it looks cool :)

Stocks have no use beyond looking cool. Run away from collapsible stocks, as they get in the way. Jcs probaly makes the best design, it colappses and folds

Stocks are one of those personal preference things. Some people love them, some people hate them.
I used to have a 48/3k tank, and hated shouldering that for firing. So I bought a stock, and that was better. Then I bought a 45/4.5k tank, and I like shouldering that better than the stock. So my stock tends to stay folded up. The tank being mounted off of the ASA brings the gun right up to proper sight level.
Thing is, I like being able to fold up the stock if I need to get tight, and you can't exactly fold in an air tank. So my intention is to flip the air tank, and angle the stock lower so I can make better use of the sights.

i have 1 for my phantom, because i have no tank in the back to brace the gun on, so i find a stock on a gun like mine usefull, here is my gun w/ a stock:
http://img01.picoodle.com/img/img01/9/8/10/f_mahbabym_103c410.png
there is no co2 tank in the back to brace the gun with, so i prefer to have the stock to help keep the gun steady, it helps me a lot with accuracy at further distance, my thought is, if you have a air tank in the back that is large enough to brace the gun to your body with, then theres no need for a stock, if you use a remote, and have no tank in the back i think a stock works great, and i say go for it
