Hey
My Tippmann A5 is fully mechanical. Is it worth it to buy a Vortex, Lightning rod and a new bolt? If I were to get a bolt what one would you reccomend?
Do you think the stock bolt would break easily?
Thanks

I would definitely recommend the Vortex Mod or JCS Jetclick, the Jetclick being far easier to install. The Lightening Rod will only serve to lower the operating pressure of your Cyclone, such that it feeds after the gun stops recocking. As for the bolt, I would leave that alone. I've NEVER heard of the stock bolt breaking, and I don't think it will under normal circumstances.

You're very welcome. By the way, my computer is messing up something wicked too, so no problemo. Have fun with your new setup! Be safe!

I wouldn't touch the Cyclone with your gun being mechanical. The stock bolt is always fine as well. I would save the money.

The cyclone mods are not needed unless you have an RT or an egrip.
And then just a ratchet and maybe a QEV.
As far as the bolt goes, I personally was having an issue with blowback pushing the paint up in my cyclone and actually blowing my hopper lid open.
Just for giggles, and because it was cheap, I put a superfly that had both internal and external orings on.
There was no change in accuracy, but I totally eliminated the blowback issue.

The lightning rod does nothing for performance. All it does it makes the ratcheting action FEEL "smoother" if you advance it by hand. It wont increase your feed rate or decrease the chance of chopping a ball. Dont bother getting one unless you have every other mod known to man and have money left over burning a hole in your pocket.

all you had to do was put on some oil to stop the leaking didnt need a new bolt

Yeah, the lil bit that the TechT Lightening Rod does for your Cyclone, really isn't worth the price tag. The TechT Vortex Mod/JCS Jetclick is worth its salt though. You will NEVER have to worry about your Cyclone ratchet breaking, which is a common wear part. It's a lot less necessary in a fully mech A-5, but quite crucial if you have an RT, or especially an E-grip. It is still worth it for a fully mechanical A-5 though, because even thousands upon thousands of rounds later, you still won't need a replacement even when your stock ratchet should have failed long ago.

I'd say get the cyclone/jcs-click mod, but as far as a new bolt, and lightning rod its not worth it. Get the vortex/jcs and a qev housing. Then when you get an E-Grip/RT later you won't have problems. So yes to the Vortex/JCS but no to the other ups.

I think you missed my sarcasm.
The actual issue was a worn bolt. Oil wasn't going to fix that.
Though I must admit , it is refreshing to get called a noob.

I went with the Orange PB howitzer on my X-7 ... similar reasons 'popcorning' being my issue .... what I did notice afterwards was a considerable gain in efficiency though. That's about the only reason i can see replacing the stock bolt though ... if you have no issues stick with stock.
Damn, if I only knew a little bit of oil would've cured all my problems ... I'd be so much richer  :dodgy: Damn, I'm such a newb! :dodgy: wanna hang out and learn from the snipers :eyes:

Even with my mechanical A-5 I've noticed significant increases in performance with the Vortex mod. Namely, the part where my stock ratchet explodes on me mid-game doesn't happen anymore.
