need help picking a new marker. I found the outer limits of mt TL during a scenario game last week. I need accuracy, distance which makes me lean toward a cocker, but then i need an ez/fast pull which makes me lean toward an impulse. I can't spend more than 500 because i'm not a rich *******. mind you i have never used a cocker or an impulse and I wont be until I work up a little paint money. so every one just post you personal experiences with either a cocker or an impulse and gimme the low down on trigg pull, rate-0-fire, accuracy and distance.

Ok, I've played with both. The cocker has a bit better accuracy at distance. The Impy fires a little faster. You can get a cocker trigger pull to be about as short and crisp as a stock impy (not a good aftermarket impy trigger though). Both are butter smooth in your hands, and won't have any miss hits due to jarring. The Impy is much taller. The cocker is going to take more work and skill to fix, and the impy has a great warranty but can't be fixed on the field usually. (if it breaks, Smart Parts fixes it) Both come with good regualtors, the Impy you will never have to replace, but you would probably replace the cocker's eventually. The cocker needs a new barrel, which would bring it to about the price of an impy. Both run great on CO2. So, really, whatever features are important to you... You will not be disappointed in either marker.
Oh, if you get an impy, get a voodoo full flow and vertical reg, and get it all from http://www.e-paintballoutlet.com/ Markers you can get anywhere, and you could probably find a pretty decent one used in that range.

And this is in the newbie forum why?
I am thinking of getting an Impy so I will say that. You don't hve to worry about short stroking and tending to it so much. With the right upgrades, the Impy will own on the field. Cockers are good but I am an electro fan myself.

and simply put. THe autococker is dead on accurate at close to mid range, and the most accurate marker at long range targets also. with the proper amount of upgrades you can increase your rate of fire to be very acceptable for a non electro marker. However you will never be able to fire as fast and an impulse can. The autococker requires a bit more tender loving care in order to keep it in top shape. several upgrade require you to re time your marker, and that is where things go wrong if you dont know what you are doing. The $500 range in autococker work is kind of in the middle of nothing. Your options are pretty much limited to getting a 2k2 stock cocker, with several upgrades. if you want anything better then a stock cocker then you would have to dish out a little more money for an STO or ANS Gen X3.
The impulse is light weight, there are not nearly as much upgrades out there for the impulse as much as there is for the cocker, but that is probably because the impulse only needs a few upgrades to be a great marker. It's fast, runs great on co2 and on HPA (so does the cocker, for both markers anti siphon co2 is a must, more crititcal on the impulse) I do recommend getting an impulse with a vert reg, or gadget grip. In the $500 range you can get a custom built impulse from e-paintball outlet with several great upgrades... well worth it. Kind of limited to plain in environments where it doesn't rain to much to protect the electronics, but for the price an impulse is the cheapest electro out there with very impressive performance for the price.
When it comes down to it, you should just ask yourself, what do you favor more speed? or accuracy? on a side note, the impulse is a lot more user friendly then an autococker, which is more of a tinker gun.

I clocked my cocker at 14 bps and I've shot an impy and got about 14,15.Cocker has the accuracy and range. If your just gonna use a new marker for rec play, get a cocker. If your gonna play tourny ball though get the impulse.Depending on what you position you play an impulse can be perfect for you or a cocker can be perfect for you.Cockers require TLC and Impulses (allthough they get it anyway) don't require as much. But my cocker is sweet!I can outshoot my 12 volt  guess i'll need a halo or warp feed either one.

14bps on a non electro autococker.... err, I seriously doubt that. electronic autocockers hardly even come close to that mark. You can actually pull a mechanical trigger 14bps per second? I dont mean to sound like im flaming you but that is just not possible. Try to count to 14 in one second. 14bps is faster then you think. 10bps is faster then people think. on an autococker, un assisted by electronics... that claim is highly doubtful

DOH,I meant impulses at 13-16 my cocker goes at somwhere between10-13.My pull is awsome.I can clearly outshoot a 9 volt and allmost a 12 volt.LMAO on my Tippmann I got 6(without the rt),that's alot for them.Guess its my finger. You should come see my cocker and shoot it and you can see I'm not liein.

well... 13-10bps on a cocker without the aid of electronics? if you say so. why even make electronic conversions for cockers
