Hi!

I'm planning to buy a barrel for my Tippman Custom 98 Pro ACT (with an E-grip) and was wondering if you people would be willing to help me out a bit here. The barrels I've been thinking about are the ones mentioned in the subject, J&J Full Tilt 2-piece and the J&J Edge kit. Now, I mostly play woodsball so I'm mainly concerned about accuracy and loudness between these two. I'm also in a bit of a hurry since I need to order them today and am still torn when it comes to deciding between the two. Paint is not an issue since here.

So, which one of these is more accurate and quieter?

Thank you in advance.

Go with the Edge kit. It will be more expensive, but it will be easier to find and you won't have to find different backs for it.

Go with the Edge, and splurge for the Elite kit. The Elite kit is only about $20 more than the starter kit, and includes 2 extra backs and 2 extra fronts. Now consider that buying a replacement back is $40 each, you do the math.

Thanks!

If I have perfect paint to Full Tilt, would it be more accurate than elite?
And how about loudness?

I know, if I have kit, I donīt have to worry about paint.
But thatīs not issue in this case.

So tell me some facts about accurasy and luodness of these two "barrels", please.

Let me start by saying I've never used the Full Tilt, so some of these statements are best guesses.

I think that perfect paint match on the Full Tilt would be as accurate as the elite, no more, no less. Assuming the theories on accuracy are right, two different barrels will be as accurate as each other as long as the paint match is right.

The elite kit is quite a bit quieter than the stock barrel on the US-5. On my kit (spyder threaded) the fronts of the barrels are ported for almost the entire length, as opposed to the inch of porting the stock barrel had.

Accuracy has been fantastic with the kit. My shot groupings are a lot more consistent and reliable. With the stock barrel, I had to do a lot more 'spray and pray', because my shots would usually hook around 50 feet out. Now I would say that I can reliably hit a 12" grouping at 100 feet, more than enough to hit someone. (I know some people will say that a 12" grouping isn't that great, but remember, I'm using a US-5, and my aim isn't that great).

The biggest reason to get the kit over a two piece barrel is the ability to match a variety of paints. If you are always going to use the same paint, you might as well go ahead and buy a matched barrel. Personally, I've fired about a half dozen different brands through my two markers, which has made it worth it to me to buy the kit.

Thanks!
Accuracy is same fot both barrels and loudness is almost same, so I will get kit =) Full tilt boresize is .688 (not bad at all). I use most severe tempest paint,it might be good for full tilt.
