View Full Version : Marker barrel unscrewing itself?

Hey all. I have a newbie question. I've gone paintballing a few times, and I am using a Black Dragun with the stock barrel (yeah, I know) and a 20 oz. anti-siphon co2 tank. I've noticed that, after firing quite a few shots, the barrel will be loose and needs a good twist to tighten it back up. This seems to happen again and again no matter how hard I screw the damn thing in. Is this normal? How do I make it quit doing that? Are there any simple (inexpensive) solutions to this? What's the deal? Thanx for the help.

Does it have an o-ring on the barrel?

Make sure it does and make sure its oiled...

hehehe, just put a good sized o ring onthe barrel and it should work fine. It's up to you, but you really dont need to keep it oiled.

A tank o-ring can be stretched to fit.

Thanks for all the advice, folks. I oiled the o-ring, barrel threads (and the marker internals thru the ASA, for what its worth) and went paintballing this weekend. The frustrating news is, the barrel still unscrews itself after I fire the marker a good number of shots. So far, I've been tightening the barrel with one hand when I duck down to avoid enemy shots, since if I left it alone it would unscrew itself to the point of being wobbly. I've noticed that the Black Dragun has a sharper recoil than other different markers, could this be causing the problem? Are there any other ways to keep the barrel from loosening up?

Thanks again for the help--

i have a black dragun, my barrel does that sometimes. only when i dont' tighten it enough. just tighten it snugly......

but it may be a really foolish idea....what i did to get my j&j ceramic barrel to stick in my spyder (may be different for your marker, though) was to put a really thick o-ring around it and then cover the threads with a good couple of wrap arounds with teflon tape (a dollar for a huge roll i think, this stuff is cheap and at most hardware stores i think)....more than a few wrap arounds i think, i put a lot on there.....it sticks in really tightly now and the teflon tape sticks to the threads, none has entered into the marker, it just makes a much tighter fit. it's stuck in there really well from what i've seen, still no problem taking it out though and i can always add/remove tape (i think)

just added a little more for good measure, seems to work great and it's a REALLY cheap fix. the stuff is also known as PTFE THREAD SEAL TAPE, not all has teflon in it i don't think but it all seems pretty similar. it's also an alternative to loctite for other leaky parts, but i've never tried it before for that
