okay today i bought a 98custom. when i went out and played it kept uncocking, its brand new today, im guessing the internals are freezing because the gun is gettin cold, like the barrel and everything. but i dont get it cause its like 80-90 degrees here right now and the gun is brand new. any help would be great.

yeah... ACT will do that... if your hopper is a gravity feed can only supply 10 BPS but your trying to fire at 15 BPS the bolt will auto uncock so it doesnt chop

but the ACT system is setup so the marker still fully cycles, and just the front bolt doesnt move to chop the ball...
it sounds like the co2 tank didnt have enough pressure to fully cycle the marker.... or if the sear area doesnt get polished (sometimes it has paint in that area from the factory so it causes the sear to get back to the ready position a bit slower, causing double fires or the famous full auto effect)

im not sure if its act or not. i got the powerpack from walmart cause cash is a little tight right now and i can get a barrel and double trigger later, i dont really like drops. the lil 9 oz tank had just been filled and with that one it uncocked alot but a whole lot when the tank was almost empty. then i used a full 12 oz tank and i think it only uncocked once or twice while i was playin that one, i was shootin pretty fast though, but i dont think 10 bps, maybe like 6 or 7 cause i was at a friends house just gettin used to the gun. but is it normal for the whole gun to get cold like that? oh yea i was kinda sprayin also, wasnt just shootin like 7 balls then backin off.

Your gun is getting cold because you are running liquid C02 through the marker. This isn’t good, but it is typical. If you use unregulated C02 on a mechanical marker, and you either fire quickly or play in cold weather, you WILL run liquid through the gun. This will cause a few problems.
First you can and will freeze your internals including the o-rings. This will cause the o-rings to swell, pop off, and/or become brittle and break. This will ruin your game rather quickly.
It will also make you get nasty pressure spikes which can and will create major inconsistency (which = inaccuracy) as well as drop off and other nasty side effects.
You can avoid this by buying a few different products.
The cheapest method if buying and installing an "Anti-Siphon Tube" in your C02 tank. These tubes cost on average 8 to 10 dollars, and are very easy to install. My local paint ball shop charges 5 dollars to install one if you buy it from them, making the total cost $15.00 installed.
This tube will prevent you from running liquid co2 through your marker. It's not 100% effective but its light-years better then not having anything at all.
You can also upgrade to HPA (High Pressure Air, A.K.A. "nitro"). This will COMPLETLY eliminate ALL the problems associated with using C02. It will also give you a significant performance increase. Unfortunately the tanks can be costly. They run anywhere from 65 to 200+ dollars. However, you can get an HPA tank which will hold as many shots as a 20oz C02 tank for the 65 dollar price. Of course you can get a tank which holds 4 times that much and weighs half as much for the more expensive prices. If you go with an HPA tank, make sure to get a quality brand name and get at LEAST a 68 CUI/3000PSI tank made of ALUMINUM. Don’t bother getting anything smaller (unless you get a 4500PSI tank) and DONT get a steel tank.
Last but not least you can get a regulator. Hands down the best is the PPS (Palmer Pursuit Shop) Stabilizer. They run 85-115 dollars, but they are awesome pieces of equipment. They can be used with either C02 or HPA. If you use it with C02 it will allow you to get all the benefits of using HPA while eliminating all the problems with C02! On top of that it will allow you to fine tune your marker's operating pressure. This can help a lot for performance AND making your marker more air efficient (more shots per fill).
You can also combine the PPS Stabilizer with an anti-siphon tube for the ultimate in C02 performance. Just FYI.
There really isn’t anything else you can do to solve these issues with the use of C02. Expansion chambers (A.K.A. “x-chambers”) don’t really work enough to be worth while, and it’s a myth that remote coils will help, so don’t bother with any of that BS. But anyway... if you have any more questions, let me know.
I hope this helps.

I'd say Co2 has a 1% chance of being the problem in this situation. If it turns out to be the case, then something is wrong with the gun itself. Let's go the simple route to diagnosing this by making sure that your tanks weren't the problem. Fill them up and see if your gun does it again.

yea ill do that too, i was thinking maybe cause its new, but im not too mech in this kind of stuff, but brand new products alot of the time take some time to "wear in". so ill probably play z few more times with it before i freak out and start buying stuff.

My ACT does that... i tried to chop on purpose (aka use a gravity feed and go rip at 13BPS) and everytime i was gona chop the bolt would launch foward but then stay uncocked after that.... but ifi stuck on my apache smooth sailing NYAH (might just be my gun thou)

If you've ever used a spyder acs bolt then you know they come uncocked when they hit a ball. Also check your valve screws, if they are loose it can really mess with things.

spyder acs and a tippmann act are different, the tippmann always recocks

i oil and clean mine every time i use it for a longer time 7 to 8 hours. if youre good at it it should only take about 20 minutes.

the tank could not be screwed in all the way, that would def cause an uncock

First off I've never seen the act 98's at wal mart, its proably a standard 98 custom. Second, Ive had the same problem, oiling it alone will help, and being new it should have been lubed up in the package, but who knows how long it was on the shelf. Oil it, if that doesnt help thourly clean it. I polished mine, do a serch and detailed instruction is here on pr review. I almost never have a cocking problem anymore, and a good cleaning always solves the problem on my marker. hope this helps...
