Ok, really people...I'm here to stop this madness! I will rule out some of the common stereotypes of the flatline barrel!
....200+ ft. range
....Deadly Accuracy
....Flatline
Stereotype #1- " ha, the flatline is super picky on paint "
Well, all you people out there, the flatline is NOT PICKY ON PAINT! I use cheapo $25 for 2000 paintballs *hot spot*. I've only broke 1 ball outta over 4000, and that was because i froze them (just as an experiment) and the became dented.
Stereotype #2- " The flatline is very inaccurate "
Ha, this is just straight stupid. My flatline is pinpoint accurate up to 170 ft+. I jammed my dad inbetween the shoulder blades from about 220 feet...heh heh heh. At about 210ish feet the ball does curve to the right a bit. Now, the only time this was untrue was when, onece again, my paintballs were frozen. The balls were dented and that caused the aerodynamics to be off. *note* my flatline is more accurate than any of my other friends barrels, 14 and 16 inchers, J&J, Stock autocoker barrels, 12 incher spyders, etc. *note* Oh, and p.s. from a 70ft range of a speedball course i dont need to sling 150 rounds to hit someone, i only need 1 shot....
Stereotype #3- " The flatline doesn't even shoot far "
Mmk...well, to all the people who say this...stand 240ish feet or so away with your gun and we'll have a shootout eh?
That's all I have to say bout' that....
Stereotype #4- " Flatlines are hard to maintain "
How ya' figure? That's what I say. The only time it's even remotly hard to maintain is if you rarely chop a ball. Even so all you have to do is loosen 3 screws. OOOHHH twisting an allen wrentch is sooooo hard. Besides that, any other maintnence is by choise only. For me, when im feelin' like it ill run some warm water through it, to just keep it healthy. But I do that with all my barrels.
Stereotype #5- " Flatlines aren't as good as apex for w.b. "
Untrue. Not many people even use the settings on the apex besides the 8th one (flatline mode). Now think about it, the apex has a small tip that helps it go far. The flatline has hundreds of grooves and is slanted all the way up the barrel to put backspin on it. So c'mon, better? I don't know about that, but definatly not worse!
Stereotyped #6- " Flatlines can't do good in speedball "
Hmmm, well. I don't know bout' you but when i'm playing speed ball i like havin' the accuracy and the distance. It out shoots almost every barrel. And I only say almost all because i've never met a barrel that out shot it, but there has to be one out there. Not all people are pinpoint shooters
Well I hope that helped. Please dont spam, but post your thoughts. And just for a note, I always clean my barrel after play, so some of my statistics might be different from others.

P.S.- I have a a-5 flatline, if that makes a difference.

well...i have respect for a flatline but in speedball i would rather sling so much paint accuracy isn't an issue...and flatlines tend to be more inaccurate with a two piece ball than with a one piece...

I've only broke 1 ball outta over 4000, and that was because i froze them (just as an experiment) and the became dented. You're just one of the lucky ones. I have to use pmi premium otherwise they go everywhere. All users will have different flatlines in terms of paint pickiness and accuracy. But your comments are only SOMETIMES true.
Stereotype #2- " The flatline is very inaccurate "

This goes hand in hand with my previous comment. If I use crappy paint, they should all over creation. But I will admit, I got someone playing outlaw at the other side of the field three seconds into the game.:D
Stereotype #3- " The flatline doesn't even shoot far "
Mmk...well, to all the people who say this...stand 240ish feet or so away with your gun and we'll have a shootout eh?
That's all I have to say bout' that....I don't know where in HELL you even got this stereotype. Everyone who knows about the flatline knows it makes the ball go farther, unless you have a lower velocity.
Stereotype #4- " Flatlines are hard to maintain "

But I do that with all my barrels. As long as you don't break a paintball, you're ok. But after each day of play, I boil my flatline in water. This process doesn't hurt the barrel, but removes any paint thats stuck inbetween the sand blasted surface of the barrel.
I don't know about that, but definatly not worse!I used the apex once and I liked it. It works better in the woods because you have more time to adjust it. The only negative is that its plastic, and the flatline is more sturdy.

FACT(fixed em for you) #1- " ha, the flatline is super picky on paint "
Well, all you people out there, the flatline is NOT PICKY ON PAINT! I use cheapo $25 for 2000 paintballs *hot spot*. I've only broke 1 ball outta over 4000, and that was because i froze them (just as an experiment) and the became dented.
It most certainly is. Having used a flatline for over three years I can say that certain paints were just nightmares in the flatline.
FACT #2- " The flatline is very inaccurate "
Ha, this is just straight stupid. My flatline is pinpoint accurate up to 170 ft+. I jammed my dad inbetween the shoulder blades from about 220 feet...heh heh heh. The balls were dented and that caused the aerodynamics to be off. *note* my flatline is more accurate than any of my other friends barrels *note*
Then you friends have junk barrels, junk paint, or both. Flatlines have, and are in fact famous for, a higher than average percentage of flyaways. And there is a barrel condition I will address later that can cause issues. At 30-50 ft I can drop literal ball on ball with my freak and decent paint. NONE of my flatline could ever do that.
Myth #3- " The flatline doesn't even shoot far "
Mmk...well, to all the people who say this...stand 240ish feet or so away with your gun and we'll have a shootout eh?
That's all I have to say bout' that....
Of course it shoots farther. No argument there.
FACT #4- " Flatlines are hard to maintain "
How ya' figure? That's what I say. The only time it's even remotly hard to maintain is if you rarely chop a ball. Even so all you have to do is loosen 3 screws. Deneds on the marker. The 98 is a pain to line up compared to an A-5.
You can not shoot through a break and doing a field swab is just not going to help. You really need to remove it and then wash it with water.
Here is the "rub" though. Over time, the barrels rough internal surface gets coated with gelatin and needs to be boiled to get the coating removed.
FACT #5- " Flatlines aren't as good as apex for w.b. "
The flatline has no grooves. It is a roughened curved surface. The Apex bumper is proven to be able to produce more backspin than the flatline. and here is big bonus on the Apex. It doesn't make yoru marker super front heavy. I won't go on and on about how much better I have found the Apex to be except to say I gogged someone at over 200ft who was two stories up, in a window at an outlaw course.
FACT #6- " Flatlines can't do good in speedball "

You don't need the distance in speedball. The court is too small.
A barrel kit gives substantially better accuracy and consistancy.

I wonder if this guy has ever played speedball before. my freak kit will blow a flatline in speedball out of the water anyday. And comon the course at most is 50 yard long, and chronoing at 300 fps you can reach with no problem.

Yeh i Know i have a 70 ft speedball course, but thats my point, i can hit anything with pinpoint accuracy from that distance.
Oh, and mjr paranoid....lol i bet u've never even shot a flatline, much less get smoked by one. your just one of those stupid people who talk smack because all you have done is read reviews of people just like you, who've never shot a flatline either.:eyes:

Is that REALLY what you're stooping to? Putting down a player because their facts conflict with yours? Honestly, how can you expect to be a respected person on these forums by coming in here and spreading data with several flaws and bashing players who have been on the website longer than you?
