Ok, I posted this in the blowback section too, but i figured more people might see it here. I just odered a kit last week. Piranha G2 VTL, do you think it was a wise move? it came with the gun, 9oz, pmi xray mask, hopper, squeegie, and barell plug for $135, $150 with shipping. I really wanna get into this sport when my gun arrives (my friend plays in the woods with about 20 or so people) and do u have any upgrade reccomendations? (keep in mind im a newbie:) thanks

As long as you have everything you need you should be fine. Get a barrel as a first upgrade.

You definately want to upgrade the barrel. Stock barrels just plain suck! You could get a cheap Dye, Smart Parts or Custom Products barrel for around $50.00.

The Piranha series of paintball markers (guns) are very nice. And it sounds like you have everything you need. Don't worry about buying a new barrel at this point, wait 3-4 weeks. Save your money and get out there and play! No upgrade is worth more than experience. And since nobody else said it, Welcome to the sport of paintball! It is arguably the most intense and exhilarating sport in existence. Just remember to play safe and have fun!

Save your money now cause you'll most likily end up getting a new gun. When I frist started I had a blow back. And as I got more into it the urge to get a new and better gun got bigger and bigger.

It hurts to get hit in the neck, I would get a Redz neck protector. You can find them online for under $10.00

If you hate pain or marks on your neck then get one. But if you dont care then dont buy one.

Wear a collar around your neck, you most likely won't get hit there anyway. My friend got one in the neck, nice hicky.

Man, I don't know what's wrong with you people, or if there is something wrong with me. I've been shot in the neck several dozen times, it has never hurt at all, and has never left a mark at all. Kind of disappointing really, I never get any good visible bruises or welts... anyway...

I got a good mark on my neck before. Thats the only reason I bought a neck protechtor.

Dont let the pain of paintball intimadate you. At frist I thought the pain would be bad. But after you get hit the frist time your like "its not that bad."

The initail hit is kinda like a bee sting for a second or two. You will be walking it off for about 5 secs. Thats it. You might get a welt of some sort or a bruse. Piranha's are nice markers for beginngers. If you are worried bout a neck shot, you might want to get something along the lines of a collar with spikes on it. It will look better than a normal neck protecter and people wont be like, "HAHA pansy is afraid of a neck shot"

Most people at my school make fun of us pballers because we like to feel pain by paintballs. That is so unfuc*ingbelievable! The paintballs don't even hurt that much. If they do, it's only for like 5 seconds so by the next game, you'll probably forget all about it, unless you get bunkered, which REALLY SUCKS!!!
But don't let a little pain keep you from playing one of the greatest sports today!

Oh, and try not to get bunkered.....

Back to your PMI. I had one and loved it now my gf plays with it. I don't know if they are still having trigger sear problems but mine rounded of the cheap original sear. PMI replaced it w/a SS one free, with in a week it was great. Play with it for a while then inspect it if it looks like your having a problem email them about it and I promise you will have a new one w/in two weeks.

Good luck and have fun

PS> I'm italian so that means I don't have a neck, I never get shot in the neck!

Before you buy a barrel...

Find out the bore size of the stock barrel. Buy paint that matches your bore. Paint that is too big will break. Paint that is to small shoots with less accuracy. Spend your cash on fills and paint. People love to blame their barrels for a bad paint match, or poor unpracticed aim. Check the barrel and paint boards for recomendations.

The PMI mask in that package blows. It's the same as a Scott Stalker.

Get a new one if you don't want bruises on your neck, chin and forehead.

no

if your that worried just wear a baseball hat backwords and it should cover you neck fine. And getting hurt goes away fast. So the pain won't last long. Plus if you get hit in the neck great stories to tell chicks and get pittied for :)
