Dry firing= bad

Because some of my friend cant afford to play paintball they play airsoft, and i moded my sock a5 barrel to shoot airsoft bbs at 600 fps :wink2: and was wondering if it is bad to use my gun like that because it is for paintball standerds dry firing.

To be more specific i took an old airsoft barrel, tightend one end so the bb woud not fall into the gun, then widened it with tape so it would fight tightly in the paintball barrel, i put a hole through both siges of the plasic tube that my apex came in at 8 feet!!!!

Should be fine, nothing can hurt a tippmann, not even chuck norris. Though, I would be more worried about hurting other people with that contraption than your gun.

Yeah I'm not big into air soft, but I read somewhere that at 400fps you need full face protection, so I def wouldn't play with you.

As for what it does to the gun, I really don't understand how you rigged that up, but its just a plastic ball, as long as it doesn't get into the valve, but I doubt it could.

Yeah, I would be much more concerned for the people on the business end of that. There are reasons there are velocity limits in place, and it isn't to kill your fun. But dry firing your gun won't hurt it, as long as you remember to keep it well lubed.

~400 fps is generally the limit for airsoft due to safety reasons.

how do you know its going 600fps anyway? the handheld chronos i've used don't seem to work with bbs

to test the velocity of a bb with a hand held chrono you need to shine a very bright led light over the chrono so that when the bb goes over it it is eluminated and it is picked up by the senser
