I am semi new to the game I played for a couple months a couple years ago renting. Now I have just got back to playing again and I am looking a buying a marker. I have a course nearby that plays scenario and woodsball.

What I am looking for in a marker that is easy to take care of. Expandable later, and will last me a long time. Also it needs to be competitive out of the box.

I saw a Tippmann X-7 starter kit for $309 and it comes with a mask CO2 tank and the basic marker.

I rented a Tippmann A-5 yesterday and was impressed with it

What do you guys suggest?

Tippmanns are good chice guns for woodsball, but not ideal for speedball, where the large nature of the guns make them impractical to tuck into smaller bunkers and snapshoot easier. If you have any plans to play speedball, I would reccomend an Spyder MR-2, as it maintains the milsim look, but offers the speed and size of a speedball marker. It's a good crossover marker.

Well the great thing about the A-5 and X-7 are the Cyclone feed- a design that is almost unchoppable, no need for spending money, but also comes at the price of less efficiency. The Spyder MR2 is a nice gun, but is really useless unless you spend extra money on a hopper, getting at the bare minimum an Egg 2. Anything slower than that will lead to major choppage, I've used the MR2 on 2 occassions. One with a Reloader 2, another with a Revvy. Both agitating, and both led to major chopping. The A-5 is simpler in my eyes, the only thing that the MR2 has over the A-5 is speed, in which it exceeds the Ion is my experiences.

After looking around a lot I ended up getting a Spyder VS2 package with a 48ci 3000psi HPA tank, VForce Armor mask, eVLution 3 hopper with Z board and a squeegee. right under $300.
