It really depends on where you have your dwell set, also if you have a VFF or tapeworm, that will lower your Input pressure, with a VFF I set up Imps at 150psi, without around 175 to 180.

what is a dwell, and the stuff you said lowers the input pressure do that alone, you don't need any other parts?

The "dwell" is the length of time the valve stays open. Longer dwell = valve open longer = more air passes through.

Haven't you read your manual?

I dont even have an impy.I want to get one but I want to know how they work first. What does the dwell time matter. How does it change the OP?

Threesome :)

Have you read the FAQ? You should start there.

Gotta question for FOM or JOhnny ... my rat is going through a tank of air like crazy (68/3000). I'm having to refill the tank after every game, after shooting about 600 rounds. I've got the inlet pressure at 150 psi (+/- 3fps). The dwell is set at about 3 o'clock and the Rat is chronoing at 280 fps.

Is this normal, or do i need to readjust my inlet pressure and dwell?

Ok take off your front cap, you will need a flashlight, look inside and see if you see a small platic piece with a hole in it, or do you see roughly anodized metal, if you see metal I will send you a air restrictor which should help out some with the air usage. If you see a plastic piece, we need to turn your dwell down some, and raise the input pressure about 5 or 10 psi. Give us a call or PM me your phone number and we can get this straightened out. Let me see, I fill to 4k and shoot anywhere between 4 and 5 pods plus a hopper and have 1 k or less remaining. Hey I just went back and reread your post, you have a 3k air system, which means less volume of air per cubic inch. Check for that insert in the front cap, but after reading this again, it sounds kinda normal to me. If air is an issue to you, we can tweak the input pressure and the dwell to achieve better air consumption. If not then generally speaking the lower the pressure, the less stress on a ball, less chance of ball breaks and better accuracy (I dont care to hear the comments on this, its my opinion and nothing anyone can say will change it) Im not trying to be rude to anyone, but when I make that statement, I get 50 replys as why that is or is not. Me and FOM do not see eye to eye on this point, but hey.....I'm just Rotten

Johnny, I'll call the shop Monday. If it doesn't sound that unusual, then I'm not going to sweat it. I'll try lowering the pressure and readjusting the dwell, and see what that does. I'll also check the snout.

How much paint have you put through it? All guns need a good 4-5 cases to get broken in some.

The first time I used my bushy I got 200 shots per 68/3k fill. Now I'm getting around 1600 off a 68/45, only thing I've changed is the barrel.

I would recommend putting some more paint through it, resetting your dwell and maybe boosting your psi up some. With a shorter dwell and higher psi you should get better efficiency. I agree with FOM on this issue; lp does not affect accuracy the way Johnny says it does. But thats my opinion.

So just run some more paint through it, make sure everything is set right and put your max to about 165-170 and adjust your velocity through your dwell. Dont go above 200 psi though, but I'm sure you know that.:)
