Mine gave out finally - an egg 1 :D . Now that I have cash, what are you guys carrying around on top of that feedneck?

How is this not invert related? I was trying to find what people commonly had mounted on an Invert. I am at work and didn't/don't have a bunch of time to be poetic and ask what I wanted :P

Egg 1 pics when I get home.

i dont think there was ever an egg 1.

i thought the Evolution II meant that it was the second evolution to Viewloader's loaders.

So alright, the reason I asked here is because the target gun for the hopper is going to be a mini, and I feel mini owners have a slightly different opinion about which hoppper is "right" than the rest of the crowd... hoping someone had an opion they would like to expound upon.
I've already got questions about rip drive, pulse vs. halo vs empire vs. select force covered (and that's not what I'm asking here), but I wanted answers about weight distribution, size, ergonomics in regard to a mini.

As for the old hopper, I thought egg 2's were marked as "eVLution II", and 3's are definitely too new to be what I have.

(rummages through closet)

Here's the pics:

I've had this gear since 2001, and it was used then... the marker is a '97 Spyder Compact, my first gun  Sorry it's not put together all the way, I stripped a screw on the ASA and haven't gotten around to fixing it.

Bit late to say this now, as Chickenmunga has already proved the point with his picture, but the eVLution II was so called because it was the second model in the eVLution line.

The eVLution II was by no means VLs second powered loader. The eVLution proceeded it, and was in turn proceeded by the Revolution. The Revolution was itself proceeded by the VL1000, VL2000, VL Shredder and VL3000.

In case you are wondering, that feed neck hasn't been chopped - the eVLution sat at an angle.

I personally think that the VL VLocity or VLocity Jr. would be good choices for the Mini. They're the lightest of the high performance loaders.

VLocity Jr. here...and Ive used the Ricochet Apache loader with good results as well.

Not to be a grammar nazi, but you meant preceded, right? Just trying to get my history lessons straight in case I get quizzed!

And no, I didn't paint it either. What's kinda sucky is that the feedneck is a 2-piece design and I *think* is a seperate piece than the body, so the body feels a bit jiggly even when clamped.
Only other thing to note is that there is no plastic seperator that sits between the two 9v batteries in the battery compartment - I guess newer eggs have this.

Not that I'm going to do it, but is there any oddball out there who has tried a warp feed? I'd just like to see the look of it for laughs.

I have some more specific questions from here out, so I'll take them to the hopper thread.

I did.

Sorry, slept approximately zero hours last night - just couldn't switch off. Playing cards at 2am probably didn't help matters any. Got through work on coke (the drink you understand :dodgy: ) and Red Bull! :P Knowing me, I'll be up until 2am again tonight and up again at 6am..... :( Doesn't do my thought processes any favours (and before you ask, that is the correct spelling in the UK! ;) )

Yep, all Evlutions have a neck separate to the body molding, and Evlution 2 and 3s have a battery spacer for use with smaller batteries. Not sure off the top of my head if these came with new Evlutions, or whether they only came with the later models.

I use VLocity with select force, I don't know what "chopping paintballs" means :) Vlocity is also more comfortable then egg for me :)

Yeah I didn't post here, but I ended up with a VL Jr. with Gangstar - firstcallpaintball.com had a good deal. It's doing really well so far, but I don't think I like the speed feed, so I'm going back to the standard lid (probably a good idea anyway to keep debris out)

Ricochet Apache, before I bought my Mini, I was using it on a Spyder E99 and it would always fall off the E99, and it hit so many walls and the ground alot, and at good force too. So what I am trying to say is that the Ricochet Apache is durable too. And it fits like a charm on my Mini.

I have tried almost every loader on top of my Mini. The one that I like the best is a Vlocity Jr w/virtue chip. It is the lightest high performance loader out there. With the addition of the Virtue chip, it may be the best loader reguardless of weight. Without the chip, it smashes brittle paint into the bottom of the breech and drains batteries.

If the Jr. is not what you decide on, go with the Reloader B or B2. Both are equally adequate on the Mini. But, they are considerably heavier than the Jr.

The marker balances well and looks sweet with the Jr.

Go w/ Jr. He will never let you down!

Just about any hopper will work, of course.

Myself and my group have tried:
Pulse with RF chip
Reloader B
Reloader
12V Revvy
VL Force
VLocity

The Pulse's feedneck is a bit short leaving the gap to allow the clamping feedneck some flexibility near the bottom open so dirt/paint could get in. Replacing the feedneck would solve this problem.

Thanks guys, but I've already bought a VL Jr. with a Gangstar chip last month. So far, it's been the right choice!
