im looking to tune the gun listed in my signature for optimum effiency/performance (velocity ~280). ive got a palmers stabilizer, a rear velocity adjustor w/ a spring kit (so changing springs is easy), and a jcs power tube WITHOUT a front velocity screw. i dont have any sort of gauges for input and output pressures from the stabilizer, but i do have a hand held crono. I have an HPA tank but i also use co2 sometimes when its handy. anyone have an idea of a procedure i could follow to make this happen?

 :eyes: so many ways to adjust the velocity. i would just use the velocity power tube screw to do so.

well let us review the posted thread please read the highlighted text.
it clearly says that there is no FVA. so lets all give a big hand for
captain obvious .
i would suggest to get gauges for the reg. and the only other thing i would suggest is a cyclone feed. but of course that is my opion.

There's a certain order you're supposed to go in. First, you use the spring kit to get you in the ballpark with the regulator at about 75-90% of full pressure. From there, you use the regulator to get you closer to your desired velocity. After you're close, you you start the RVA at about halfway between full in and full out, then fine tune to the exact velocity, which should be no more than +/- 4 fps.
I do recommend that you get a mini gauge for the Stab. That will allow you to predict which rear spring you can use that will allow you to run whatever pressure you want to run.

It's fun when we check the velossity, we can get it to go up to 378 feet per second... way over your 280... but at the park we keep our players between 250-290 at the most depending on the types of players.

i wanna know how this turns out, im interested in squeezing the efficiency out of my tippmann too. post your shot count to a tank when you finish tuning it

I find that as long as you're not running a Response Trigger (which you shouldn't do without a FVA), the A-5 gets optimum performance at just over 600 psi. I'm able to get about 1100-1200 shots out of a 20oz. With a big HPA tank, I can get almost a whole case of paint on a single fill, and that's shooting at a high ROF most of the time.

thats quite impressive, just wish i could get 2000 shots out of a 68ci like a borg.......
