I was playing last week, I was trading paint with this guy about two bunkers up from me. his paintballs were flying over my head, and making this whistle/whizzing sound as they passed I knew he was shooting over 280, but I didn't know by how much (I'll come back to this in a minute).

Anyway, I got tunnel vision and stopped watching my left side. One of his buddies came up on me and shot me about six times. One shot hit the bottom of one of my pods (I've got a JT harness, the pods are horizontal) totally taking out the bottom of the pod. the rest hit me in the thigh and gut, leaving nasty bruises.

The refs didn't check that guys marker, but the one I was trading with, we chronoed him after that game and he was shooting 315 fps.

I'm thinking his buddy was pretty near that.

Theres always people that don't chrono. I think a way of reducing this is to stamp peoples hands that have there own eqiupment that is under the max velocity. So less peope try to go on the field without chronoing. For this to work, the ref has to check before they hit the field.

that sucks, i hate that. i think that stamping the hand thing is a great idea, i am going to bring it up to my field if we have a problem (i havent seen any hot gun problems there yet) but then again after there hand is stamped they could always up their reg or velocity a little bit . . . its too bad that people feel the need to cheat.

at our feild, the refs watch you as you chrono.

You got a point, after every few games then there should be a random picking to chrono again, If caught, they go home. It can work with some slight adjustments.
PMI Guy, the same problem mention will happen, they leave the chrono area and turn it up.

I'm not saying the guys in the scenario I described were intentionally trying to shoot hot, I just think they got on the field somehow without chronoing their markers.

the refs at Thunderbay are good about making everyone check their velocity, and randomly selecting people after games to check.

It's strickly honor! We (I) check everybody before we go into the woods 300 is the speed limit. I'll get three off of each player, if any go over 300 I send them to the end of the line and have them "tweak" themselves down.

Now I used the word honor because, I live in a very small town where everybody knows everybody else. We've known one anothers families for generations. Which makes it like a big family outing. No one whats to hurt anyone, We're really all friends. So once a markers been chronoed, it says there.

At my field you have to get chrono tags on your gun to make sure youre shooting below 285, and youre not allowed to bring any velocity adjusting tools, which is kind of a rip off because theyll charge you to change it for you.

at some *** field by me. they took it too far... (granted it should be safe but this is to much)
after you chrono, they put GLUE on your velocity ajusting parts so you dont change it.. for the spyders/pmi's there is a little screw to hold the velocity thing in place (most fall out or whatever.. it has a little allen hole in it) if you dont have that little piece they WONT let you play... on cockers the put glue all over your cocking rod, i still have glue on my gun from 3 months ago...
this place also makes you put ur gun on the ground and go get a barrel plug if you dont have one in, and they make everyone sit down and have there guns away from them before you can take masks off.. there also big jerks.. hate that place

Sounds like they're over safe if there's such thing. The places I go, there's at least 2 staff working in the actual building where players check in and 1 comes out and chronos everybody when they enter the netted area. After every game of going out and back in the gate, they get chronoed again. If there's a big complaint and a player is overshooting while hot they go home. If they're overshooting and stuff, they get taken aside. A last warning type of thing. I'm happy that the spyders and stuff are easy to adjust, cuz for noobs, they don't wanna be carrying around allen wrenches and stuff... more to lose. Well, our fields are becoming more similar to tourney judging. This is helping a lot w/ a strict way of play. Besides, if you can't hit someone at 280 fps, you just shouldn't be playin. This is my sport (I didn't invent it, it's just the one for me) and I plan to play for a while and don't want others ruining it.

yeah my field makes you chrono every time you play and if they see you're velocity at 280 when you chrono but after a game it's 300 or above then you're in trouble..

were i play, people as shoot hot, the refs do there best, but whens their is 15+ people waiting and getting annoyed, its not easy for the refs... i say we become nicer to refs, do what they want and it goes ALOT faster!
