Ok please vote on what you think is the best all time barrel ever made. And Please don't vote if you have no idea about the barrel or have never used it. Remember if you have anything else just post it, cause i ran out of poll options.

any kit is far superior to any single piece barrel. i dont care what type of paintball you play or with what marker or paint. a kit will outperform any single piece barrel.

DW Fibur

light, strong, quiet, uses freak inserts, very high quality, and can be swabbed.

My favorite is the Unitec. Shame they aren't made any more....

I also tend ot disagree with some of the previous posts in that I greatly prefer a one piece barrel(of the correct bore of course) over a two piece version.

If you only use one kind of paint you don't need a kit. So it all just really depends on the situation.

I wish they did still make the un1tec....that what I would have voted for.

I agree on the importance of bore matching, but a set of one-piece, unstepped barrels will tend to be better than a barrel kit - no possibility of misalignment, better efficiency (depending on bore length in each case), better control of ball spin, any porting will become more effective etc. However, barrel kits, despite their inadequacies in some respects, are a very convenient way of paint matching. They tend to work out cheaper than multiple single barrels, so they are attractive.

As far as kits are concerned, the Freak gets the job done, and gives the widest selection of bore sizes (though the same can be said for any of the barrels that use the Freak inserts), as well as a choice of front styles, colours, lengths etc. - lots of choice, but I guess I prefer the original Sceptre kit a bit more, preferably with the steel back - heavier, but I prefer the balance. The Sanchez SM-1 is a good kit as well.

For one-piece barrels, I like the LAPCo Bigshot, Autospirit, Microshot and Picoshot. Steel where possible. Not particularly efficient, and only one size, but another nice one was the old Dye stainless one-piece. Very smooth, quiet, and with decent paint (and a good bore match of course) shot very straight.

On a side note, the Un1tec barrels are available in the UK in a wide range of front and rear colours, and in 689 and 693 bore sizes from Warpedonline (http://www.paintball-equipment-online.co.uk/), though postage to the US is likely to be steep. They have a selection of marker threads available, but not in all the colours. They bought up all the remaining stock of Lucky parts. There's a special deal on at the moment that gets a barrel back, front and bag for £30 (around $60).

i can still get lucky stuff, seeing as how im technically still sponsored by them till jan. :P I do agree that a single piece with the right bore match is better then a barrel kit. Id love to have a .679, .684 .687 .689 and .691 single piece barrels, but the cost just wouldnt justify it, id take slightly less performance for a lower price of a kit.

i agree with you there...but based on the question asked...the situation is unclear.

there isnt a "best" barrel because its all opinion. that alone renders this thread useless. all you'll get is everyone posting their favorite barrels.

i guess i can change my answer though. a kit is superior if you have to use different field paint from week to week. as i do.

Hm, i wonder how difficult it would be to become a local distributor for an overseas company... there's still a market for Lucky here in the states.

But i digress.

The only barrels i've had experience with from the poll are:
- Teardrop/Progressive - good bargain one-pieces.
- Freak Jr kit - worked well but i no longer like inserts.

And here are some not in the poll:
- CP 1-piece - also good bargain barrels.
- CP 2-piece - disputed by an old local shop; they said the backs & fronts were sometimes misaligned (quality control issue). I never had problems, though. Getting a CP kit can be expensive.
- Equation Bizerk kit - very nice 1-piece barrel w/ inserts kit, despite having a design flaw; the inserts had to be manually aligned because only 1 o-ring held it in place, unlike Freaks, which have 2. Not terribly hard to do but it sucked having to take that extra time lining up the insert.
- Lucky Un1tech - my favorite by far. Uses a 1-piece barrel that is secured to a gun by a "sleeve," which from appearances looks like just another back but has no influence on the bore. Best barrel IDEA ever.

He's agreeing with what you said.

But, I'm a big fan of CP 2 pieces, I don't know how Lopez feels now, but I know he used them for some time in the past.

You're totally right at that point. Usually, threads like this get closed as soon as I see them. But we haven't had one in a while, so I'm letting it run.

Just about any kit is better than a single barrel. I shoot a midgrade paint (Midnight) for now and it varies during the day. Starts in the mid 68s and ends up in the afternoon in the low +69s. I am a Cali baller so heat is ALWAYS a factor!

Id say that the PPS Brass (single barrel) beats a few barrel "kits" out there. ;)
