Well as I said people list your best trigger jobs for the model98!
Hmmmm. Well, I have the Original 98's e-bolt. So I just put electrical tape around the second trigger pin. A couple wraps around that, and I now have a 1.5mm trigger pull.
I plan on doing better soon, by getting shrink wrap. Because that'll last forever. Electrical tape eventually gums up, it's a pain!
So if somebody can beat 1.5mm trigger pull with working safety, congrats. I know it can be done. However some methods I know of really wear out the sear too fast. And others will eliminate the safety, but able to tap the gun and actually fire (I will not tell the plans to this, I do not like it).
*EDIT*
Ok, seems like somebody did beat my 1.5mm pull.
I did myself. It's now a meer .75mm pull, and STILL a working safety!
However, I'm measuring with my eye and a ruler. So I might be off. I'm almost certain, because I have 17/20 vision (quite a bit better than 20/20 actually, and my hearing is well above normal... I'm a Super human, and helps explain why I got a job with Sonar Electronics, plus a 77 on the ASVAB).
For the pull itself, you tap the trigger, and it'll fire. There's no problem like with the stock trigger setup with the trigger sticking back and not returning properly. So it's a much much better improvement.

hey meph, can you send me pics or a diagram of the heat shrink trigger idea?
Nah, no need. When you open your assembly, you see 2 pins holding in the trigger, correct?
One pin is snug, the other pin has a lot of open space around it. That's for it to freely move to tip the sear. Well, a lot of that is wasted space.
Take that pin out, cut a small piece of shrink wrap, put it in the middle of the pin, shink it on, put pin back in place. Done!
**Ok, when looking down on it, the 2 pins, it's the pin on the right.

By list your trigger jobs I actually mean explain what you did. So soyboy what did you do to your m98 to make it shoot so fast?

it is kinda hard to explain exactly what i did....
i first got a double trigger....
then i got a trigger job from valley firearms in which they cut and polished the rear bolt where the sear catches....
then i put electric tape around the safety making the pull shorter...(u have to measure your pull and stuff)
then i put tape around the 2nd pin around the trigger....
then i did another mod from the m98center in which you get a paper clip, and take off the spring on your trigger.... then you cut and bend the paper clip so it is a circle that fits around the pin.... then u attach the spring to the clip (this will make the pull even lighter with the same response.
this was done on a regular model 98....
this took me a year of experimenting to find the best combination of trigger jobs and trust me it shoots very very fast!

first, i took some steal wool and scraped all the black ano off wherever there were moving peices. Then oiled it all up nicely.
next, i changed the stock trigger spring with a very light pen spring. the gun shoots sooo much smoother and faster now.

Like Meph I also have an original 98 with the PB Em-98 (E-Bolt) kit installed. I did a similar mod to Mephs but added a Magnetic triger return. The magnets are also set to eliminate the trigger pre-travel. So my actual pull is 1-1.5 mm and very snappy due to the magnetic return. The feel is similar to a well set up Angel LED single trigger. It rips!

Here is a crappy pic of the Magnetic trigger return mod. The magnets are of the Rare Earth variety and are very powerful for thier size. Sorry for the blurry pic but the cafine got the best of me. I think you can get the idea...

Wow that is truly neat. do you think there is a way one could do this modification on a '98 custom?

Look at the Picture above your post. See the red circle? The magnets are epoxied into place. I had to remove a little material from the top front of the trigger a little at a time to eliminate the pre travel. The epoxy I used has a 3000psi shear strength so those magnets aren't going anywhere. It's a pretty simple mod if you put a little thought into it.

www.mscdirect.com do a search for rare earth magnets. They sell direct but you need to set up an account. It's very simple, all you need is a credit card and a mailing address. This company sells everything a tinkerer could dream of.

For my trigger job i took the trigger spring out and replaced the sear spring with one of those rubberbands used for braces.
By the way Meph, is this one of those trigger jobs that will wear out my sear too fast?

Well, I probably shouldn't tell you guys this, as I may lose some money (nobody else knows these secrets :) Except for my employees):
TRIGGER SPACERS
Basically, THIN sheet aluminum is sliced and diced into usable strips, then molded into appropriately sized circles to fit around the pin that the larger hole in the trigger goes on. Makes it much faster, and cleaner look as well, as opposed to the ol' duct tape trick.

that is a good idea. i use tape and it needs to be replaced after a while. trust me, if u do all the stuff i said to your m98, it will rock.
Lose business?
Why, I already blew the cover, only I used electrical tape and shrink wrap. A much more convenient way. For me it is any ways, I don't have access to much. Most modifications and tinkering I do is courtesy a la Dremel and tape.
If I had a lathe, I'd just custom make an entire pin that would fit there, so it would just be one solid metal pin. No tape, thin metal, shrink wrap, or anything.

Well, by firing faster of course you're going to wear it down faster.
But basically, the mods that do are ones that actually modify/relocate the sear itself. Not really the springs.

Pin's already ready already. I also have those to use on my guns. :)

so basically just get some electrical tape and wrap it around the safety and around the right pin that holds the trigger and thats it?
