For those of you that want to know about the F8 here it is (i got it off pbnation)-
First impressions(copied from my thread last week):
Hey guys, just thought I'd share my joy with the family about my new black/red F8. I won't be able to play with it until Sunday, but so far, it feels and looks GREAT. It is MUCH smaller and more compact than it looks in pictures, especially the width. It is near-07 ego light and comparable in size as well, only it is shorter in length. With my 45/45 legionair and vlo jr. it is superbly light and balanced. The frame is thin and light, and the grips are extremely nice. They fit the frame very tightly and are thin and soft. Surprisingly, I won't be replacing them with Dark Seoul grips. The feedneck holds on my vlo jr. very tight, unlike others I've heard. So far, I'm in love with this gun and won't be selling it any time soon. It is the first gun that truly feels like an extension of my arm. I like the feel more than my past cyborgs and quest, if that says anything....
Please let me know if you would like any other details, otherwise you will see a review Sunday evening. I'm back with the DP family and will be staying for a while!
EDIT: For all of you who think the "hump" by the inline reg looks huge, it's NOT. It's actually much less pronounced than I thought it would be, and it makes for an extremely comfortable grip.
Feel--basically a repeat of the above information
The gun feels excellent. Starting with the most obvious, it is LIGHT--Lighter than all of my past markers, including an 07 Cyborg and Quest. The frame is thin and the grips are thin, light, and comfortable, with no gaps between them and the frame. The marker is significantly lighter than the pre-F8 Fusion(which I will refer to as the F7 for now on). The integrated ASA with the 'hump' is incredibly comfortable and makes for a very stable shooting platform. With my MacDev 45/4500 Legionair and Vlocity Jr., the setup felt incredibly balanced and light, the lightest setup I've EVER felt. My friend has an 07 ego with Vlo Jr. and 68/4500 CP tank, and we asked a few people to compare the weight of the setups. Mine was lighter every time. With a full hopper, I can still balance the gun on one finger by the snatch grip. Take my word for it--if you want a light setup, get a Vlo Jr. and Legionair. You can have a pre-03 shocker with those two items, and it will still be light. http://imgs.pbnation.com/smilies/dodgy.gif . It's nuts.
Looks
If you don't like the looks of this gun, you're nuts. It's gorgeous, the milling is perfect and the finish and colors are the best and most vibrant I've ever seen. The dust finish is rather slick compared to other 'grainy' dust finishes I've experienced. It is the glossiest dust finish I've ever seen, if that makes sense. And, it looks great, is thick and even distributed, and doesn't look like it will wear any time soon.
How does she perform?
Alright, here's where the rubber meets the road. The F8 aired up with no leaks and shot great right out of the box today. It was very easy to chrono, and shot surprisingly consistently right out of the box. I set it to 295 fps and was shooting about +/- 5. I had a few instances where I hit the same number twice in a row. After shooting a few more cases through it, I'm sure the numbers will tighten up even more. Great job on the new reg DP! Kick was minimal, with the gun feeling even smoother than my past F7's. It didn't effect my game at all and the gun felt very smooth. It shot quietly, just like most fusions. Now to the efficiency--While using my 45/4500 filled to 3800 psi, I used 2 pods and a hopper on 1800 psi. Not too shabby at all. That is the only game I actually measured efficiency, and I was shooting 295 fps. It was very efficient, just as much as my past Cyborgs on my bottle. Lastly, the F8 was very fast and allowed me to pour paint onto the poor souls(that's right, I used both forms of 'poor/pour' in one sentence) on the receiving end. The trigger is not my favorite(Quest), but is nice. I will be replacing the return spring with repelling magnets, which I prefer. I'm sure the trigger will rock hard then. Overall, the marker performed excellently the entire day--until the last game.....
The end of the day/random 'problems'
After shooting so nicely and trouble free for the whole day, I chopped a ball during the last game. No biggie, but it still made me http://imgs.pbnation.com/smilies/mad.gif . Before the game, the bolt was doing a strange "stick forward half of the time" thing, but it ended after I ripped a string--weird. To add to it all, after the game I heard a very vague leak coming from the ram/noid area. So, I removed the ram(easy task), lubed it up and reinserted it, but the leak was still there. After adjusting the reg, lubing, and cleaning, I still have a leak that I determined was coming from the solenoid. I'm assuming it's dry, but I haven't closely inspected it yet. DP, if you read this, please PM me. Otherwise, the gun was problem free and one of my favorite guns OF ALL TIME. I will continue to use this gun very happily, as long as the solenoid leak does not persist.
What did others think?
"Wow, lightest setup I've ever felt"--Pete(Lost One)
"It's lighter than my 07 ego setup"--Gunner
"Nice ego"--Random kid #1
"Is that a fusion?"--Random kid #2
"Wow, I REALLY want your gun"--Random kid #3
Don't tell me he didn't test an Eigan ram....
Why, I'm glad you asked. Yes I did, and with excellent results.....
After two games using the stock ram, which performed excellently with little perceivable kick(if I can even call it kick), I dropped the Eigan ram in. It fit great, with no bolt pin problems. It actually fit PERFECTLY, like they were made for each other....http://imgs.pbnation.com/smilies/confused.gif. Anyway, I dropped it in, lubed it with Assassin NINJUICE(greatest lube ever), and headed to the chrono. After shooting at 295 fps with the stock ram, I shot at about 275 with the Eigan ram. So, obviously I raised the HPR to increase my velocity....but, contrary to the norm, my velocity LOWERED. So, being the genius I am, I slowly decreased the HPR pressure, which slowly INCREASED my velocity back up to 295. So, why is this? I'm assuming that the higher amount of force against the back of the valve pin from higher pressures makes it difficult for the light weight ram to open it. So, lowering the pressure allows the valve to open easier and therefore, raises your velocity. Now, obviously if I continued to lower the pressure, my velocity would have dropped, just so some of you don't go and get confused. I experienced no NOTICEABLE change in consistency, efficiency(didn't test), or anything else....except kick. The kick decrease was slightly noticeable, with the F8 feeling more like a Cyborg. I was pleased with that, which made me http://imgs.pbnation.com/smilies/smile.gif . But, I'm not sure if I'll actually be buying my own Eigan ram because the gun already shoots so nicely. But, I'm tempted....If Pete ever wants to get rid of his, though, it will be mine.
Overall, the gun shot many people in the face today. It was accurate, consistent, efficient, fast, and felt excellent. Well worth the price. In the future, I will most likely be adding laser eyes, replacing the trigger spring with magnets, getting an Eigan ram, and getting a more adjustable board. I might be contacting SPD about making me some sick custom grips, but that will probably be last. DP, hurry up with the board!
