Did anyone else get to check out the CC? I went and it was sad. Half of the big name vendors didn't show, you had to pay to watch the finals, no concerts and there is nothing on their site about who won!!!

Dye, Smart Parts, and KEE are major PSP sponsors so they haven't showed at the NPPL for almost a year.

You always have had to pay for the NPPL field grandstands.

Concerts? What paintball tournaments have you been at? The only concert I can think of is Rocky Cagnoni completely wasted and playing air guitar.

It takes time to update websites. They aren't just .TXT files that take 10 seconds to write.

The PSP throws some minor concerts to my understanding, not the NPPL. And the only freebie stands for the NPPL were up in Boston, which I lucked out on since the entire tourney was free to watch.

Not true the 2004 san diego CC included several local bands over the course of 3 days. It also included a celebrity match which included the cast of "Scubs". and a stage where the did side shows like fashion shows of the next years line of gear from each of the major names. I saw the Angel one and it was pretty cool. The last couple of years there have not been any concerts at other locations, but here in San Diego they had them as late as 2005 or even 2006. I rember being disappointed that they only had one stage. Also, there has always been a VIP section, and there has been paying for the grandstands, but I have never paid to watch a game. the games have always been viewable, you just might not get to sit down on the bleachers. As far as vendors, I went to HB and the only one I specificly noticed missing was Dye, While a couple others might not have been there (I'm not always the most observant person in the world) I'm pretty sure there were still more than CC. I am almost certain Evil was there at least.

Uh oh the NPPL makes you pay for grand stand tickets and doesn't have a concert...OH NOES! Wait, last time I checked thats the way it is for the psp too. And look at world cup for sponsors, A few were missing (or put in a poor showing) but thats fine I hope we have the presence of mind to understand they back another series, but then if that were true this thread wouldn't exist.

If you want to call the nppl a joke why not make a viable arguement. For example the screwing of Joy Division, The "TIE", photographers being banned from the showcase field, the firing of many of the staff due to new ownership, How Canadians and Americans are reffed differently (yes this still happens) or just about how they are losing to the psp.

Think then post....in that order.

First, those are additional reasons to dislike where the NPPL is going, and I have to say that I agree with them. I was talking about the Commander's Cup EVENT in particular.

That said...

Second, my points were:
1. No concerts/side shows = less entertaining event all around.
2. Loss of several vendors/sponsors = less of an event. (About 40% of my reason to go to a large tourney is to check out and buy gear).
3. Paying to watch games = just plain cheap.
4. Oh, and what happened to Bawls?

To sum it up, The NPPL is giving its fans less and is trying to take more for it. Dye has boycotted the season, I have to wonder what they don't agree with, The have a reputation for being player oriented, as do several of the other vendors who didn't show (almost seems like they don't like the way the NPPL is either). Calling the CC a joke may have been a bit hash, but the drop in quality of the event was noticealbe and pretty sad.

This was my point. Sorry if it was unclear for some (mooman666) but if you don't understand what you are reading, instead of being rude, ask for clarification and I will be happy to use smaller words for you.

its sad to hear that NPPL isn't improving through out the years, because they are one of the leagues that can get paintball out there.

I don't really like any NPPL event besides HB to be honest. The beach and the girls make up for what is missing.

It sounds like PSP is going to take over sooner or later.

Yes it is sad. I went to HB this year for the first time and the beach and sights were pretty cool, the resort across from the event was nice too...Next time I think I might need to get a room there.

I think the NPPL has slightly improved how well they promote the sport, but their events have been going down hill. I don't recall seeing any PSP events in socal, but I will be keeping an eye out from this point. It seems like the only way I can check out the Dye, Evil and Empire vendors tents ;)

It sounds like the PSP might be the series to start watching...I fear the NPPL's days might be numbered.....

PSP or NPPL should come to Canada...
