1st of all, sorry for my aweful grammar i do not come from an english speaking country, anyway here's the deal:
I'm planning on buying a Tippmann 98 custom paintball gun, and well, since i do not like "simpleness" i'm planning on upgrading it, i have only 100USD to spend in upgrades and since i'm a newbie i do not know where to start.. i do know i need a new barrel since the stock barrel sucks but that's about it, so yeah, any tips, suggestions are appreciated.
So, i'm planning on buying:
-New barrel:
-The thingy in the back of the gun.. i think you call it a CAR stock? (again, i do not come from an english speaking country).
-Anything you guys suggest: (Please give a reason on why should i buy it).
-Etc
Ty for your time:D.
Edit: Forgot to mention.. i'm buying everything from paintball-online.com so if you could provide a link that would be awesome, again, ty.

Welcome to the Forum! Your english is fine. As long as you can describe it, we'll be able to figure out what you're talking about.
A CAR stock is an adjustable shoulder stock that allows you to brace the gun against your shoulder while shooting. CAR stocks usually have 6 positions that they can slide toward or away from the gun.
There are all kinds of stocks though. The one you mentioned slides, but there are also stocks that fold and lay flat against the side of the gun. I use one of these, and I really like it. Then there are stocks that don't move at all.
After you get a stock, there's not going to be a lot left of your $100, especially if you also buy a barrel. The best thing you can do is to play with the gun like that for a while. If you notice something that needs improvement, that's where you should spend your money on the next upgrade when you get the chance. Before you know it, you'll be like me, with more spare parts and extra guns than you know what to do with.

Ty for clearing that up :)
And yeah i know 100$ isn't much... i guess i'll have to settle with the stock and the barrel for now 'til i get more experience, after all i'm a newbie.
Do you know of any models that would go with a Custom98 that aren't expensive? You seem to have a lot of experience with paintball.. a friend said i should get a J&J 14 inch barrel and the stock of my preference.

First, let me say that I think you should go out with your new gun and play a few games with it before you buy any upgrades for it. Who knows, you may not like using a stock, or you may think the barrel that came with it is fine, but you might want to shoot faster. Get to know your gun before you start dropping money into it. When you first start, your money is better spent going out and playing; getting used to the game and your equipment.
The J&J is a very good starter barrel. It's cheap, accurate, and durable. Prettymuch everyone gets one when they first start out. It's almost like a rite of passage. I would prefer a 10 or 12 inch to a 14, because I feel that 14 is just too much like carrying a lance (especially on a 98C, which is kind of long to begin with), but that's my personal opinion.
Now, as for the stock. If you're using CO2, you should probably be able to just use the bottle as a stock for a while. Many guys actually prefer using the end of the bottle over a stock.
The main problem with having a stock is that you usually need a remote line. A remote line is a hose that goes from the bottle (which you can place on your back or anywhere else) to the gun. If you don't have one, the stock and the bottle can make for an awkward rear end of the paintgun.
Now, lets assume that you've played a few games and decide that you really do want a stock. If you go out and buy a new 98 Custom, it's going to have ACT (Anti-Chop Technology). This means that there needs to be an extra hole in the stock for a second spring that older 98 Customs (without ACT) do not have. You can use stocks that work with ACT on guns without ACT, but if your gun has ACT, you need one that works with it. There is a way to modify a non-ACT stock to work with an ACT gun, but it involves drilling into it. It's not difficult, but if you're not used to that kind of thing, it might be worth it to just get one with the proper ACT hole already in it.
Here is a list of stocks for the 98C:
http://www.pbreview.com/products/cat/149/page1/sort5/view2/layout2/rman/rcat/
That page contains great reviews by people who own the product.
I have personal experience with Opsgear, JCS (also called Blackpoint Engineering), and Special Ops stocks, and they are all excellent. I would advise staying away from any stocks made by BT designs; they've given me nothing but trouble.
As for the design, it's prettymuch up to you and your budget. Currently, I use an Opsgear folding stock, which I love. When I want to brace the gun, it folds out and provides a solid mount, and when I need it to be maneuverable, it folds up against the side of the gun, out of the way.
BTW, stocks are the kind of thing you can find on eBay, which means you can get them really cheap.

ya corrupted has alot of information around in his head lol
i spent one month figuring out what i wanted for my gun and thought i didnt want anything but then the barrle+ expansion chamber fuel my want for new upgrades lol. ( i live in a cold area of canada so dont care what others say about x-chambers but it helped me alot)
stocks are great on real guns but on a paintball gun i find them in my way, with quickly snap shooting and such. iam also a front man so aiming insint high on my list. but then my friend ( A-5 with car stock+ flatline + RT) saves my a$$ half the time and its deadly accutre.
iam looking for a good folding stock on my other 98c (soon to be my bros) and wonder if you have any sigestions. we use real guns alot ( safetly though) and want a good folding one that will not wiggle around.
EDIT- cheaper would be better in this case

you could get a barrel for ($25) (j&j ceramics, or SP progressive) and then get a inline (not male) palmer's stabilizer ($70) and run a 1/8" nipple out of the stabilizer into the power tube and a macroline kit ($5) from the ASA to the input. That would make a pretty nice straight up mechanical gun, with the option to upgrade the firepower at will later
Edit: the prices i state are pretty much an average ebay price, but u get the point

ya corrupted has alot of information around in his head lolYeah, there's a lotta crap floating around in there. It's a miracle I can organize enough of it to form a coherent sentence.

I know Blackpoint Engineering (JCS), and Metadyne (Opsgear), BT Designs, Tapco, and Trinity make folding stocks for the 98C. Out of those, I've had experience with a JCS, an Opsgear, and a BT. The JCS is aluminum, so you know it's tough, and Metadyne makes quality stuff for Opsgear. Opsgear also has some of the best customer service out there. While those two may be good, make sure to keep away from anything BT makes that even resembles a stock. It might spontaneously explode, causing a cascade reaction in the aluminum of your marker, causing you to burst into flames. Seriously, I've not had pleasant experiences with BT stocks.

Edit: the prices i state are pretty much an average ebay price, but u get the pointYeah, a Stabilizer is probably one of the best upgrades you can get for your Tippmann. I don't think he should get it right away, though. It's probably best that he get the hang of things before he goes blowing half his paycheck every week on ups like the rest of us.

with a tight budget, it seems logical to try to get the best bang for the buck and try to make the gun shoot the best it can for $100....personally, a stock is useless unless ur gonna shell out the cash for a remote and harness, so that pretty much eats up the $70 odd left after the barrel upgrade, and doesnt help the way the gun shoots. A 20oz tank on 98 works well for a stock and prob weighs about the same as a stock, and the exact placement can be adjusted with a cheap unversal drop (asa relocator) that can be had for like $5....also, the palmers stab has a better resale value than a used 98 stock, remote, and harness
plus by going with the inline version he'd avoid having to buy a vert kit
Add: Basically what im saying is that if i had it to do all over again, the first $100 id spend would be on gettting a regulator and barrel
Also, do yourself a favor and get on ebay and seach paintball markers-buy it now-newly listed:

you might be able to scoop up a great deal when a seller adds a low buy it now price that dissapears once a bid has been placed...

Here is the best bang for your buck:
1. Anti-siphon tube for the Co2 tank: $8.00 (keeps from running liquid C02 through the marker at high BPS rates/in cold weather)
2. PPS Brass barrel: $45.00 (keeps that paint flying straight, no matter what size/type/brand paintball you use!)
3. Complete X7 Cyclone-Feed System: $40.00 (less expensive, faster, and more chop-proof then an agitated hopper. FIREPOWER!)
4. X7 low profile hopper: $10.00 (best hopper for the Cyclone system. PERIOD.)
Total: $103.00 ...I'm sure you can afford the extra 3 bucks.
Oh, here is the X7 Cyclone:

Will that work on his stock 98c?

No, you can't just bolt an X-7 cyclone to a 98. The cyclone for 98's has unique mounting points. I suppose you could get a 98 cyclone and then fill it with X-7 cyclone parts, but then you'd be in for a lot of cash.

either the Palmer Stabilizer or a J&J Ceramic Barrel and Cyclone Feed

"This is the stock cyclone feed system that now comes on the X-7's. It is backwards compatible to the A-5's and can be used as an upgrade for the A-5 or 98 cyclone system."
Thats why i figured he could use it as a plug & play mod.
edit: Plus this guy said that he already installed said X7 Cyclone on his 98C...
