View Full Version : Impulse Breaking lots of paint

I have a RAT IMPULSE without the VISION. I'm using a 4500 88ci PMI setup with an Xboard.
When I shoot RPS or Diablos, I almost Never chop. I play every weekend so it gets VERY expensive so I decided to buy cheap house paint (35$) vs 60+ for good paint. With the house paint, I'll probably chop about 10 - 12 balls / case.
My question is will the Vision eliminate balls breaking in the barrel even with House paint?
My logic is If a VISION can eliminate house paint breaking in my gun, I will get it and continue to buy house paint and that money saved will pay for the Vision because I can't stand paint breaking in the gun.

The Vision ACE will stop chopping... that's what it's designed to do. It will NOT stop breaks in the barrel... that's caused by a bad paint to barrel match. If you're breaking paint in the barrel, use a larger-bore barrel. If you're chopping then shoot slower, get a faster loader (12v Rev/X-board), or get a Vision.

Yeah like deep6 said, is the paint breaking in your barrel or is the bolt chopping the ball. If the paint is breaking in the barrel you need to get a bigger bore barrel if you want to keep shooting cheap paint. If the bolt is chopping the ball then you might want to look into vision or a HALO or something. Since you said diablo and RPS shoot just fine your barrels bore is most likely to small for cheap paint. Most cheap paint is big and better tournament paint is smaller bore.

My friend has an Imp with .689 bore size just like me but He doesn't seem to chop as much. When I break paint, the bolt gets paint in it so that must mean it's chopping instead of just breaking in my barrel. I think it's because my Blade trigger pull is too sensitive (1 mm ) or so. Mabe setting it to 3-4 mm will do the job, if not, then I'm getting the Vision

Do you have a fast loader... like a Rev with an x-board? You could also turn down the Imp's ROF... that way you can't outshoot your hopper.

House paint is usually inconsistant. That would be a reason why you are breaking a lot.
Shooting more consistant brands, such as RPS or Diablo you should have better results. Just gotta pay the extra cash.
