I own a few refillable mines, and i'm really sick of buying expensive fill for them. I have talked to some other people and they said you could boil out the pant of paintballs somehow! :drop:

If you still don't know what i'm talking about go to this site.

I own some of the DC mines.

I'm not sure boiling them would work, since the shell and fill won't mix. You'd actually end up with chunks of shell in your paint. I wish I remembered the adress, but I saw a place you could buy paintball fill in bulk to make your own paintballs, unfortunately I can't remember the site.

Actually a dude at my local field makes his own grenades. He doesn't boil the paintballs he puts them in a blender and blends them, he also thins it with water and adds some minty afther shave to give it a nice smell. Then uses a pressure sprayer or something to fill up surgical tubing. They work good too. Some guy dropped one down someone else's pants in the staging area, man that was funny.

O.K now i know what your talking about, boiling paintballs, I don't think that would work, Why do you just take food coloring and refill the mines that way. Who uses these things anyway?

gee, lets fill our grenades with food coloring. If I was hit by a grenade filled with food coloring, do you know what I'd do? I'd shoot the person in the balls! Do you know why? Food coloring is permanent, and even stains skin! Please use sense when filling grenades, so we don't have that issue. Thanks!

food coloring stains, and wouldn't show up as well as the oily gel-like fill on some colors. i've heard of some people doing that while i was playing in fort worth from the guy that owns the 'house..but i don't remember either.

Alright, first off it gets kind of expensive whether you are blending or boiling paintballs. Here is the most cost effective thing you can doo for those mines. Go to like toys R us or some junk and buy those crayola painting pucks, you know the ones that you wet your brush then rub it around on the punk and then do water color painting. Well buy some of those and soak them in a container of water. It will dissolve the puck and then you can add water to make it as think or as thin as you want. And guess what, its only like 3-5 bucks for 6 of those pucks. A lot cheaper then boiling or blending 300 paintballs to get one fill off of your mine.

Using watercolor is a clever idea. I don't know how well the paint would mark though. You could just pay $5 for a squadbuster and use its load if that is less than however much a landmine fill is.

Here's what I use for my launcher rounds. Its just real simple water color paint. It works very well. It's not as thick as paintball fill, but it's quite obvious when someone is marked. You can buy this stuff at most art supply stores for like $5. It'll make between 20 and 30 8 oz paint grenades.

you can make the fill. I dont know quite how but it is a mixture of vegetable oil coloring and water. Experiment to find out how much of each. It wont quite be real fill but i think it will work.

I made my own Grenades, I used an old blender and blended a few balls down to where the shell was liquified, Then i got a tiny screw and poked a tiny hole in an egg, I drained everything inside through the tiny hole, Then i used a syrenge(sp?) and filled it with paint and then put a drop of elmers glue over the hole in the egg, When it dried it worked perfectly.

I would suggest the blender tactic. With Brass Eagle balls. That's pretty cheap. Or some of those 50 cent balls at Sports Authority....though they may be sold out by now. Theroetically, if you boiled the paintballs, I beleive the shell would dissolve due to heat......am I right? Or you can take a bucket of water and put a whole bunch of paintballs in and let the water dissolve the shell. Stir occasionally. It might not be thick...but you could always add more balls.

Supposedly they sell Squadbusters for $4. The site you linked to sells 2 liters for $15 plus $6 for shipping. That seems pretty reasonable to me. I doubt $21 worth of paintballs or squadbusters yield 2 liters of paint...

I would go with the water color. You can thicken it nicely if you add flour or corn starch. Probably cheaper than using paintballs. But be paintballs could work.

this is how you boil paintballs.

first get a large bowl
next place the paintballs in the large bowl
**IMPORTANT** do not put a lid on the bowl
next place the bowl of paint in the microwave oven.
set the microwave for 4 mins.
when done, let the paint sit in the microwave for 10 mins. to cool.

take the paint out and it will be nice.
not too thick and not too thin.

Can you say how many paintballs yield what quantity of liquid paint? The whole enterprise seems inefficient to me.

well look at a bag of 500 paintballs. The yield would be similar.
