I am considering buying a Tippmann A-5 Stealth,to enjoy in the woods for "wargames".

I am wondering if there are any opinions regarding this marker, and if there are any tips&tricks I should know.

Also Co2 or Air.What is best??

PS: I am a super novice

comng from an a5 owner, BUY IT!
I've been using my a5 for a year now and I've never had a problem and i've only chopped about 5 balls total. I got the regular a5 and bought an M4 stock, but I've only heard one negative thing about the flatline barrel, sometimes it fits on loose. I find it great for scenario play.

as for air vs co2, you're in a grey zone there, a lot of people say just go with hpa (high pressure air), I use CO2, but if you're outdoors for wargames, use air in the winter or your co2 tank will freeze your gun. If it's all indoors, don't worry about it. it all depends on your price range and your location

The biggest issue with the stealth is the flatline barrel - either you love it or hate it. I've never used one myself, but I've heard that it can be real picky with paint.

The A-5 is a good solid woodsball marker. If you are planning on playing primarily in the woods and really like the mil-sim style, then the A-5 is right for you. You will be able to get 'more bang for your buck' with other markers, but it isn't always about performance, and if the A-5 really appeals to you, get it. If you can get your hands on one I would recommend it, the Tippy valve train makes markers longer and less tall, some people love it but some people don't.

For CO2 vs. air - a lot of that depends on your availability of air. I personally think that unless air fills are expensive or hard to come by, it is the way to go. The initial tank is expensive, but it is much more consistent, it is not affected by outside temperature like CO2 is. But if you are looking to play in the woods with some buddies, CO2 might be a better choice. It is cheaper and more efficient per volume, and with the addition of a regulator (Palmer's stabilizer is best) you will get performance that is very similar to an air tank.

Forget the stealth.

Get a base model, apex, folding or fixed stock(or forget a stock. If you must use one, i like the 8" trinity fixed wire stock) and a remote setup.
It will be cheaper and more useful.
Flatlines, you either love em or you've used em.;)

Buy a board for it.

I agree with paranoid, base model A5 with apex. I experimented with stocks, had the folding ones and solid, but after it was all said and done decided that a 20oz tank felt the best on my shoulder. Should try out stocks before you buy imo.

i also agree with paranoid. buy a base model, apex over flat. a folding stock will do nicely too...

Folding stocks are nice. I ended up with something similar to an A-5 Stealth, but I spent a lot more money (click below to see it). In my defense, all the stuff I added on performs better (in my opinion) than the stock Stealth additions.

Apex > Flatline (especially if you put the Apex on an aftermarket barrel)
folding stock > collapsible stock
bottomline remote > tombstone remote

Just keep in mind that if you ever plan on upgrading any of the "extras" that come with the Stealth, you'll basically be tossing away the money you spent to get the Stealth version over the stock A-5.

Yes, i have to agree with most of you here when it comes to either getting the APEX or Flatline, i went for the APEX and i cant complaint. None the less the friend i always play together with he has a flatline and he cant complaint either, i've heard everyone talk about paint when it comes to flatline but let me tell you that he buys the cheapest paint there is and shoots pretty good and accurate considering the characteristics of the flatline of course, yet again the APEX gives you more options.

The flatline in my opinion is amazing... just need to keep it clean, and use smaller paint. i reach out and touch people that cant get within 50 feet of me
