Make sure it is oiled well. That's about it, not much you can do to a tippmann to make it maulfunction.

If he just wants to play, then all he needs is his marker, some paint, a full tank, loader and a mask!

The one thing that should be quickly 'upgraded' on the M98-M98C series is the barrel. The stock barrel is of rather poor quality, and isn't going to be shooting darts. I suggest, that he picks up a new barrel soon, or polishes his stock barrel for the time being ( www.m98center.com fo details).

As far as aftermarket barrels go, for the $50 you pay, a Lapco Bigshot can't be beat. The accuracy rivals that of more costly barrels at a very welcome price to the wallet. Just ask anyone else on this thread who owns a Lapco, I highly doubt you'll hear anything bad.

oops, hehe, kinda went a bit off topic. As before, there's really nothing to know. Just make sure the parts are cleaned and well oiled, and the marker will never fail you.

BTW, try not to mess with the valve bolts, they tap into an aluminum valve body and can be rather easily stripped if overtightened.
