hey, i have just started to get into paintball. I have recently purchased a Kingman Spyder MR1. I looked it up read some reviews on it and it looked like a pretty good gun to start off with. But i hung out with a friend and he had a Avant e99 laying around. So we were messing around with it trying to figure out how it works. It was pretty confusing i must say. Like we would pull the cocking back bolt, but once we pulled the trigger it would close up the hole where the ball comes down from the elbow. I didnt understand how it worked.:eyes: Will my new Kingman Spyder MR1 be like that? and if any one can help me figure out how a paintball gun works would be great!

Yeah, that is how it is supposed to work. The bolt slides forward, seals the chamber, and a burst of air launches your paintball.
As for some good animations of how different paintball guns work: http://www.zdspb.com/tech/misc/animations.html

thanks Lenny, but im still a little confused cause the cocking bolt didnt slide back, was that because we didnt have a Co2 tank or anything connected? Like we pulled it back, and fired once and it would close but wouldnt re-open unless we pulled it back again.

Wow been awhile since i've read e99 avant. Read up on marker classification's at ZDSPB.com as well. It should help you out on how blowbacks work. Link (http://www.zdspb.com/tech/misc/markers_hammer.html)

You are exactly right.
The e99 (and MR1) are both blowback semi-automatics. Without an air source, your marker doesn't have the ability to recock itself. Look at the animation on zdspb.com labeled 'Kingman Spyder'. You can see that you pull the trigger, and the bolt and hammer push forward, the hammer releases a burst of air, and that air fires your paintball and recocks your gun, leaving it ready to fire again.
