I got a Tippmann 98 custom for Christmas. I have played a few times and like it. My freinds getting a 98C off ebay with a double trigger and flatline barrell.

I got 100 dollars and want some better upgrades then a stock 98C. Where would be a good start to change my gun to make it better?

Better barrel or an APE Rampage board.

I'm gonna have to go with a decent barrel. You can't get a whole lot for $100, but a new barrel is prettymuch par for the course of everyone's first upgrage. If you're running CO2, you might also want to take a look into saving up for a nice regulator.

barrel for accuracy

best bang for your buck barrel is the PPS brass with no porting colored gloss black with a bore size of .685 and any size under 12"

I was really hoping to not be the one to have to say it this time around. Thanks Curly.

IMHO 12" is where it's at for a 98. Anything much longer and the marker starts to get too long and unwieldy.

Yeah, 98's are beasts with anything longer than 12 inches. Especially with a stock. But if you dont want to buy the PPS, J&J's are really good for 98's. (Sorry Corrupted and Curly)

Any barrel between 8 and 12 inches is going to perform almost identically. Anything longer than that will start to eat more gas.

12" progressive would work fine, plus then you'd have $50 extra to buy a case o paint

Better barrel and an RT. For a barrel, you don't need anything longer than 16", anything longer just gets in the way unless your at a large open field (I know, got a apex equipped straight rifled barrel thats 22" ).

i said that mostly because of the price increase for the longer PPS brass. but still, i find it very hard to use anything longer than my 12" s2 on my 98 custom.

I've got a 14" teardrop on my 98c and if i wasn't a big guy i'd definitely have some problems. I've seen others with larger and they end up pitchforking or getting their barrels snagged on things, never pretty. Always hilarious.
