internally it is 99% identical to my custom pro if there really is a difference i aint found it.... shooting its nothin special factory barrel has no real consistancy. but it looks cool as hell and if its a tough as my custom and should be its the same.... so its a good gun just not the "wow" factor i expected... i know i'll be bashed for this prob but its just an observation

Well its basically just a dressed up 98C with M4 mods that does not cost that much more than a 98C and cost alot less than buying a 98C and modifying it to look like an M4.
I don't like the tiny handguard and curved magazine housing.
If you want a "WoW" factor in a marker look at the RAP4 Gen4.

I think the whole marker with E-grip is about $160.
You can put a regular cyclone on it with just a little modification needed (just filing down the feedneck).

want part are you talking about?
and by normal cyclone do you mean 98c cyclone or the A5 one?
does it have a hole out the right reciver like the 98c for the cycloe?

yeah, there is a port to install the cyclone feed system. my buddy just bought the alpha black, and its a damn good gun for the price...ive shot it a few times, and its about as good as my a5, with half the cost...im sure once the mods come out for them, like a response trigger, since i dont care for e-grips...it will be a sweet gun...and the 98c and the alpha black have the same threads so the barrels are compatible...my buddy just bought a j&j 14" barrel and it shoots straight as an arrow...well worth it

kk thxs but what part of the neck do you have to file to get the cyclone to fit on.

If you pay attention to the new guns Tippmann's been coming out with lately, you'll learn to prettymuch expect the same internals wrapped in some new attractive body.
I've sent countless emails to Tippmann about coming out with a high-end marker, and I even had a brief correspondence with one of the Tippy executives. Basically, they look at 'Mags and 'Cockers (high-end mechs), and see how their combined sales pale in comparison to sales of the A-5 alone, so they deem a high-end Tippmann as a failed project before it even comes out. And add that to the fact that they're already skittish about new markers after the Triumph line and C3 pump tanked, and sales of the X-7 are nowhere near what they were expecting, and you come to the conclusion that anything new coming out of the Tippmann factory is going to be a repackaged inline blowback CVX valve marker.

I think Tippmann is regurgitating the same stuff for too long. How long has the 98 in it's various forms been around, and how many different forms that you can buy off the shelf?
The problem is as Corrupted said that Tippmann knows their current stuff will sell, and probably sell for a good few more years so why bother paying a team of engineers to design a new gun, or why bother with retooling all the equipment. Their costs these days are minimal.
The reason the C3 tanked are many. Many people are nervous using propane in a gun. People worry something will go wrong or it might explode (compressed air does that). Personally I am more worried about what someone would do around the tanks (leave the tank on, smoke, break a seal in the tank, etc). Also pumps are aimed at 2 types of players. Really new ones that cant afford the extra tanks, and stock class players. Well the C3 is way to expensive for new players to buy a pump, and it isn't true stock class for the other market. Really the gun has no market. Now if it were a semi-auto....things could be different.
The X-7 tanked because, well an A-5 is cheaper, basically the same thing, and you can already do so many things to an A-5 the customizeability of the X-7 is moot. Besides most people who would get an X-7 already have an A-5.
Triumphs were just crap. Stupid design and cost.
To be perfectly honest everyone, the Tippmann guns are good, but anyone who buys them is being gouged a ridiculous amount. I'll take a 'cocker or a mag over 5 Tippmann guns. Unless its those really old ones.....

I'm gonna be honest. I feel really bad that I don't use my A-5 anymore, because I feel a kind of loyalty to Tippmann after having owned three of their markers. Once I got into the paintball mainstream, I was able to borrow a 'Cocker, and I was frankly shocked at how amazing it was. To date I've bought three of them, and I've not used my Tippmann in an actual game since. And I feel pretty bad about it, because my A-5 is actually a pretty decent marker after all the stuff I've put on it.
I was actually looking to buy a C3 about a year ago, because I wanted a pump gun to improve my skills. But I just couldn't justify paying $200 for a practice gun. I ended up buying an ACI Maverick, which is pretty crappy, but gets the job done. And at $64 on eBay, the price was unbeatable.
I've loved all my Tippmanns. I've just grown out of them.

I have 3 cockers, 4 tippmanns and a overlord pistol, and I love the cockers, and I love tippmanns. But I am leaning more cocker way as my superstock runs circles around my a5. I love my a5 but its now been set up as a suprision fire weapon. And ya I am not using the a5 as much, hell even my pro carbine is used more. I don't know I like tippmann but want to see somthing interesting.

I don't sell my old markers. Especially ones I like. The only marker I don't own anymore is my very first one. It was a beat up second hand Pro Carbine. I gave it to a kid who could barely afford to come out to the field. I'd just bought a brand new Custom Pro, and I didn't need it anymore. I miss that old thing, but it went to a good, needy home. You, my friend, have a perfectly good 98C.
