This is my first post, so i would like to start off by saying hi. Ive only gone paintballing once, last weekend actually. It was me and 2 other friends first time. And now we have the bug. We are hooked to the sport. All three of us have been trying to get our own gear for this weekend.

Ok, so i bought a 98 custom(forest camo) with flatline barrel and stock already put together. Everything looked fine when i bought it. When i got home i put the barrel into the shroud, fit fine. Then when i went to put the hopper on theside of the gun, it wont latch on to the side. I looked inside and theres nothing hooked up to the quick release button on the top of the barrel.

I have an extra baggie of small things that came with it. Im assuming i need to use this metal piece that almost looks like a U with 2 holes in it, and a spring. i just cant figure out how to put the 2 together. I dont want to break it. your help will be appreciated. thanks

Welcome to the forums, and welcome to the addiction. You're in for quite a ride.

Anyway, your front sight spring is probably the most annoying thing about the 98C. But it should go in there like this:

One other thing you're gonna want to pay attention to which direction the detent (that orange rubber thing) goes in. The open end should be pointing toward the barrel.

If the spring is already in, try loosening the screw right there a little. I had that problem for a while.

You should be able to get the pictures on that page. If they don't come up, refresh the page. If they still don't come up, you may have some sort of net-nanny blocking potentially violent sites. And since the site is called Warpig, it tends to trip off some safeguards.

even if you lose the spring you can pull the front sight up once the hopper is in the upright position and tighten the front bolt enough so that the hopper wont move. also take a bottle oring and put it around the base of the hooper elbow above the hole the balls would roll thru to keep the hopper from wobbling. sorry i don't have a pic.

Thanks for helping a newb corrupted and others. I ended taking the gun apart acouple of times today. So now im familiar with the gun. So i feel alot more comfortable with the gun. Took it out today and i personally love the flatline. This gun is so much better than the spyder pilot acs i used my first time last weekend.
Just so i dont have to start another thread, heres acouple of mods i plan on doing in the next few weeks.(in this order)
-double trigger
-Cyclone Feed
-response trigger
Could you give a 1-10 rating on difficulty of each install, also i heard that since i have the flatline on my gun, there might be a fitment issue with the cyclone. is this true?

hummer- thanks for the tip, stopped that annoying wobble, ive only had it for acouple days and it was already getting on my nerves. lol

magmaster- LOL yeah, after i installed the spring, i was having that problem, then after acouple of mins, i loosened the screw and it worked.

double trigger 0 easy to install
cyclone feed 2 if you have the newer 98c
response trigger 5 becuase you have to punch out small hole
cyclone feed does get in the way of the flatline shroud, ubt only some cutting is needed

overall very easy

Means your marker is brand new. The only disparity I have about your list is to make sure you get a good quality double trigger. There's been some real crap out lately in the trigger department. I dunno if its poor quality control or just a bunch of bad designs, but i hear a lot of complaining caused by bad triggers lately.

I was thinking of just getting a tippmann double trigger, theres afew on clearance at my local academy for like $10. I believe i read that i will have to shave it down alittle if i dont want the trigger to interfere with the safety.

Cool, im glad that it will be easier to add cyclone to my gun since its newer. I guess the hardest mod in store for me know is the Rt.

if its a GTA(genuine tippmann accessory) and its only $10 id get it and just sand/file the hump out of the middle, unless you wanna spend a few more bucks and get the fang trigger which is fully adjustable which would add like 2 points to the difficulty scale lol.

I ended up going with the Tippmann DT. I sanded it down and it was good to go. Feels just abit flimsy, but other than that, i like it.

Next thing to do is the cyclone feed, found one brand new for $40 from a shop that is closing. Good deal?

That's about what you'd pay for one on Tippmannparts.com, IRRC. But you don't have to dish out for shipping if you get it from a shop.

have you played a game with the marker yet? never thought to ask that, lol. did you decide thats what your marker was missing?

Yeah, i played 3 times with it. The flatline came with the gun. I really like the flatty. It gives me more distance and accuracy. I installed the dt for 2 reasons. 1. So i can use 2 fingers to fire, making my firing abit quicker 2. I inherited my dads fat fingers, so it gives me more room in general.
Me and acouple of buddies went to some property and setup sheets of metal, cardboard and plastic around the trees and had our own little map.
It was alot of fun, but my biggest problem when down there was my hopper, it wouldnt keep up and i would have to shake it sometimes. I broke acouple of balls because of it. And thats a pain, especially with the flatty since i have to unbolt the barrel. I want to keep my marker mechanical so i want to go with the cyclone over electric hopper.
Also, i figured out that i will be needing to buy a drop kit, tank is getting in the way of me using my stock. I saw the drop kits on clearance for like $20 bucks at academy.

dont buy a drop, get a pack and a remote. the stock is so you can ditch the old tank on the ASA and reduce the weight.
