Hey guys! I'm new here and to paintball. I'm thinking of getting a new/used marker. Any suggestions for a beginner?
I'm looking for something fast, reliable, accurate, customizable, and I'm planning of keeping it for a while. I'm a bit of a gear head, so something that's customizable, but doesn't require a factory to fit a red dot sight on your standard dovetail railing if you know what I mean. I'm looking between the $300-$600 price range.
EDIT: Something actually between $300-$500 including tank, hopper, marker

Used e-cockers and older timmys would be worth while to look into. Just keep in mind to leave enough cash to get a nice mask, HPA tank, and loader.

Suppose I had a mask, hopper, and whatnot. Also, is HPA better than CO2 for someone like me?

Do you have those things? HPA is almost always better, only guns that can actually run off CO2 better are tippys from my experience.

I have a mask, but no hopper or loader. I need all the stuff related 2 the marker.

You'll have enough to get a nice loader and carbon fiber tank. A Halo B w/ V35 board and then a Crossfire 68/45 tank will you a total of about $265. So by your $600 budget it'll leave you w/ like a Mini, Fusion F7/LE, Rail and Rail SE for new guns as well.

Sounds perfect! Thanks. What about Sonic Cyborg. I checked the reviews here and it sounds like a great marker. What about Tippys? Are those mainly for non-newbies?

If you can get a Cyborg then i'd get it hands down over anything else. My Sonic is the best shooting gun i have, although my Black Magic comes kinda close it isn't quite as nice. Performance, quality, reliability, maintenance, are all top notch right out of the box.

How much do Sonic Cyborgs run for?

I got mine for $380 back in January and it came w/ the guns case, Trinity Unimount, PBK delrin trigger, AKA feedneck, and a Tadao board. I've seen them for around $350-$400 and most have at least a Tadao or NOX board in them.

I'm thinking Sonic Cyborg or Ion. Where'd you get your Sonic Cyborg?

I bought mine off Etfren when he was selling his here. You can only find them used these days but MacDev owners tend to take very good care of their guns. As far as i know i'm the third owner of my Sonic and it is in near new condition still. Owning both a Sonic and a fully upped Ion (needs board still) there's no comparison between the 2, Sonic owns it everytime.

Your best chance of finding a Sonic is posting a want add here and on PBN.

Oh, ok. How does this Ion sound?

Ok but the loader needs to go. An Egg3, Eye Force, or Halo B would be better.

I prolly won't get a different load till I get the money. But for now, is it good for a beginner?

An Egg3 is the same price as that Egg2 and the Egg3 is made a little stronger which is a must when it comes to Eggys. Now is that $200 for the Ion for the gun only and nothing else?

Viewloader makes the Eggys. For $350 that's not a bad deal if everything works and is in good condition.
