bought a brand new real tree e grip tippmann a 5 today

do you have to break them in?

my stock tipmann a 5 barrel has a ruff area on the inside of it where they machined the holes is there a way to get rid of this.. i was shooting paint out of the barrel however it only happen every now and then..

there was also a little paint at the bottom of the cyclone feeding system not enough to make me think there breaking in there maybe it just ran from the barrel in

The very first upgrade to your new A-5 should be a new barrel anyway. You could polish it, but the stock barrel is universally accepted to be pretty horrible no matter what you do to it.. The big question now should be: do you want the massive accuracy and flexibility of a kit, or do you want the affordability of a single barrel?

And no, you don't really need to break anything in on your A-5. From now on out it's prettymuch ready to go.

Most everyone starts out with a J&J. It's like a rite of passage or something. They're good barrels, especially for the price, but eventually you're gonna want something better. Also, 16" may be too long unless you intend to use it to poke through a lot of shrubbery and stuff. Longer than 14" isn't going to make any difference. In fact, as far as idealism in reference to accuracy and efficiency, the best range is about 8" to about 14". Fourteen is really longer than you need, but acceptable as within the range.

Barrel kits are barrels that usually come in two or three components. The first component, referred to as the back for obvious reasons, screws directly into the gun like any other barrel. Then there is the front, which is the tip of the barrel that's got the porting. For those kits that have a third component, there will be something called a sleeve. The sleeve is a removable insert that goes inside the back and allows you to choose the size of the bore. There are usually several sleeves that come with each kit, and sizes will vary depending on the kit. For those that do not have a third component, the barrel back will act as a sleeve does, but there will be several interchangeable backs with different bores rather than removable bores. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Powerlyte Scepter kit.

The whole point of a kit is to get the best paint size to barrel bore match. The better the match, the more accurate the barrel will be, and the trouble you'll have with excessive gas use or breaking paint due to oversized or undersized bores.

if you know for 100% fact you will always and i mean always play with 1 size ball then get that bore size, but here in the real world theres a dozen factors that play in to what size the balls are, http://www.sakworldpaintball.com/jjedbakit.html would be a great kit for you imho, it comes with most everything you need for whatever paint you get ahold of, might wanna search around for the best price though.

In general, any given barrel kit is going to be better than any given single bore barrel. So yes.

The J&J Edge is a good kit too. I've had very limited experience with it, but it does shoot pretty well.

Powerlyte Scepter kit has 2 fronts, 5 backs(if you get the bigger kit)
jj has 5 backs 3 fronts so you have 3 full barrels at any given time,
Powerlyte Scepter kit uses inserts witch can get beat up pulling them in and out over time(just search ebay and see how many people are trying to sell slightly dented inserts as part of there used kits) jj has solid backs and imho they just last longer.
Powerlyte Scepter kit has a nicer case then the jj soft case
over imho the jj kit will take more of a beating and just looks a bit better, ive used both and my jj wins every time, its also cheaper since its alot easier to manufactue several backs then it is to make inserts.
quality of both are roughly the same(until your inserts start not to fit perfectly)

atm i have 1 PS kit and 2 jj kits and a ton of extra fronts to go on them, but value wise the jj kit is just a better buy since u can get 2 more fronts and have 5 total barrels opposed to 1 barrel with the PS kit since you would have to buy 4 more backs and lord knows that would cost a pretty penny.

The Scepter isn't as delicate as you make it out to be. Also, if you want to put the barrel on a marker on a gun that takes different threads, you've just got to buy one new back piece, not a whole new set of bores.

I LOVE my Scepter, and I've only had limited experience with the Edge, but what little I did says that it's also an excellent kit. Have you been to the reviews section yet?

i dented 2 of my inserts trying to quickly swap them out when we got 2 new boxes of paint that were a diff bore size, droped them trying to hold 5 things and do it all while rushing to get into the next game. so my own personal experience may not be byast, just dont tell that to the people im going to juror duty for next week hehehe. still love my PS kit, but the edge kit is just more durable in my own experience.
