I tried to find one of the other forms that probably asked my question, which is what marker/gun should I get? I know nothing about paintballing. I played for the first time this weekend and fell in love.
Considering the style I played I think I would fall into being one of the mid-rage players.
My budget for a gun is 400 bucks for the gun alone. (I'm willing to go hire if I need to but not that much)
I played and would like to continue playing both Speedball and Woodsball.
The type of gun I'm looking for is one that fits the following:
- Light weight
- Easy to Maintain
- Reliable
- Good Accuracy
- Fast Shooting
While at the field I tested out the B.T. Delta Elite marker. I liked it but I was told it wouldn't be good for Speedsball. Is there anyone that can help me?

I would suggest an Ion, they aren't the EASIEST to maintain, but they still get the job done.

Ion? Is that all I need to say when I walk in the store or will need more information? I talked to this guy that worked with for paintball-online.com. He was helpful but he suggested I get a "Mini because it's better in accuracy and lightness".

I'd go for like a Mini, F8 Fusion, PM7, or G3 new. Then maybe look around for like a used timmy (Intimidator), older Cyborgs, Quests maybe, and upped PMR's. Keep in mind though that on all those you'll need to dish out another $160 or so for a good HPA tank and at least another $50-60 for a good loader. You'll also be wanting a a nice mask and a pod pack would also be good to get.

Is timmy another marker? And if possible can someone tell me whats wrong with the BT Delta Elite? I'm all for getting a different brand or type, but is there a reason why the others make sense to buy 1st? I thought that gun looked pretty good. But then again, it's the only gun I shot beside the rental gun. :)

No timmy is just short for saying Intimidator. If you're going to be playing speedball w/ the Delta you'll quickly find your self out gunned unless you get one and put an e-grip on it. Still though the Delta is more for woodsbal then speedball.

Sorry to keep asking questions but I really don't know. Are the guns you listed above good for both speedball and woodsball then? I'm trying to find a gun that fits the middle position. Something that would serve well as I try to advance into the opposing teams area.

All the ones i listed and the Ion mrlolman posted are speedball guns. However any speedball gun can be used in the woods w/ no problem. This is not true for most woodsball gun though, they will have a hard time being used as a speedball gun.

Good stuff! If you dont mind me asking which gun do you have and what do you have on it?
And what kind of gear would be wise to get? I saw in your 1st thread that you started to go into that part.

I have 7 guns right and they all have a mix of upgrades on them that it's a long list to cover everything for all 7. But pretty much it's new feednecks, ASA's, detents, grips, and a few w/ new triggers and boards. Upgrades depend greatly on the gun though since some don't need anything like the '07 Cyborg and some like the Ion and PMR they need a few things. Outside of a gun all you really need is a loader, tank, pod pack, set of pods, mask, and then maybe a barrel cover if the gun doesn't come w/ one, and a barrel swab. A tool kit w/ many size allen wrenches and tube of lube that works in the marker are nice to have.

FTR Live, the Delta elite comes with an e-grip. It's still capped at 13 bps so it's pretty much useless for speedball. Also if you have 4 bills to play with may I throw the Spyder RSX and the SP Vibe in there for giggles.

The Vibe's capped at 11BPS...at least the 13BPS of the BT could make the PSP ROF cap.
Markers are not really position specific, all of the top teams out there shoot the same markers regardless of where player's X, Y, or Z are on the field.
For you I'd reccomend probably the Smart Parts(that's the company) Ion or Eos(those are the guns) if you were looking for something brand new. You might also consider the Proto SLG as an option. That's in addition to some of the markers already listed.
If you are willing to go used the Proto Matrix Rail (PMR), PM5 or 6 (Proto Matrix '05 or '06) would be good choices. Any of Bob Long's Intimidator markers would also be excellent, I personally would recommend the '05 "Alias" generation guns, of which there were several models, all of which were very nice.
After that a nice hopper like the EggyIII, VLocity or Halo(preferably) and an HPA tank, Crossfire is a good brand 68ci 4500psi is a good size.
Also, no one's asked you about efficiency yet. Are you looking for an efficient gun? Will you be playing exclusively at a field where you can get air fill-ups whenever or are you going to need something that can carry you through a day of outlaw ball with your buddies?

I'd also want a little more clarification on "I have $400 to spend on a gun". Is that because you have the rest of the equipment? If so, what is it?
A lot of people think about the marker first when they go shopping, when that really isn't the case. A good mask is first and foremost, and getting the most out of your marker is very dependent on what else you have. A Mini or PMR isn't going to do you any good if you are running unregulated CO2 and a gravity fed hopper.
Edit: you can find a Proto Rail SE for around $280 brand new.

Why on earth is the Vibe capped at 11 bps?

The Vibe/SP1 need to be capped low in order for the low force bolt design to work. Increasing the ROF increases the bolt speed and forward force thus taking the anti chop design away.

I'd think that a low ROF cap also help the Vibe and SP1 out with CO2. The low cap keeps them from rolling fast enough to really freeze up the gun and hurt something.

Hmm. I was going to replace my Ironhorse with a Sp-1, but not if it fires 2 Bps less.

It's not that big a deal really if you're playing in the woods. The EP design and magnetic trigger make it easier to shoot IMO then any tippy (or BT).

If this guy has $400 I would recommend trying to find a FEP Quest, an UL'd Proto, or an Autococker. You can usually find pretty nice autocockers for under $400. You might also be able to find an Infinity Legend. You can get most of them in a black finish if you are worried about being seen in the woods. You can get all of these markers way fast. They all shoot "ball on ball". But most markers out in the market in that price category will give you speed and accuracy. Jus try as many out as you can. I have a Sick Ion for sale in the Trading Forum. Not your ordinary Ion. You should check it out. It might be a little to shiny for woodsball though. But it fits your other criteria. Good luck

Okay hold it!!!! :)
I just wanted to cut in here. I have 400 dollars to get the gun I set that price thinking that the Elite was going to be the best one to get. After coming reading the threads its the last thing on my list.
Aside from the orginal charecteristics I mentioned above I wanted to get a gun that would be the best one for the money. I really wouldn't want to spend over say 500 for one but if I have to I will.
As far as other equipment me and my boys are going out this Sunday to buy all the accessories. The only thing I have on my list right now is therma mask, outfit, and boots. I'm literally taking what you say to the store with me. So the better you can break it down or the more precise you are. The easier I can explain it to the guy that I see at the store counter.

Masks greatly depend on the wearer, best thing you can do is go to your local proshop and try on a few pair of thermal lens masks. You'll want to get a pod pack so maybe look in to NXE, Dye, Redz, and Invert packs. Pods are up to you but i like the Dye Lock Lids (DLL) pods myself. Now pretty much every gun in this thread needs HPA and a fast loader. I'd look into getting a Crossfire 68/45 tank or even better one of the new Guerrilla Air tanks w/ the Myth reg. Loader wise you'll at the very least want either an Eye Force or Egg3, But any of the Vlocitys w/ new chips, Halo B, Reloader B/B2, Torque, or Magna would be better. Other then that just pick up a barrel swab, barrel cover if the gun doesn't have one, some lube that goes w/ the gun, and a allen wrench set if you don't have one already.
