If you win a somewhat big tournment. Then maybe you'll get a sponser.

The only way you will get sponsered is by winning at least 2 or 3 tournys that are not in the "beginner/newbie" level. Your going to also have to have decent guns and a lot of experience because companies ask a lot of personal questions. If you want to know what a sponser form usuially says pm me.

Wrongo.
First, my team was sponsored after one tourney. Sure we didnt play for free or anything, but we had some backing.
Second, you don't need a "decent" gun. Bad company uses all spyder flashes/AMG's/Xtras. They are pro.
Sponsors look for POTENTIAL, that doesnt mean winning world cup. That means they see what CAN happen with your team, and that you can represent their company well. If you win tournies too, well thats a plus.

You do need a decent gun, especially if you want to compete in tournaments, and especially if your a new team. You want to be as on top of your game as you possibly can. The best way to do this? Be able to at least shoot as fast and as accuratley as possible. Let skill come with playing.
Your right...Bad Company is pro. They're Spyders are also highly modified, if you look at one in a magazine, you will notice a lot of them have LPRs, and all kinds of external mods, not to mention Max-Flow systems and Freak Kits. Keep in mind also, if Bad Company wasn't getting a hefty deal from Kingman, they would not be shooting Spyders.

they wouldnt shoot spyders if they didnt want to. if i was getting paid more from company 1 but there guns werent letting me win i would easily switch to company 2 with the better guns. sigh...

For the record, they don't HAVE to use Xtras. They just have to use Spyders. I've seen them shooting EM1s as well. Those Xtras aren't that heavily modified... Freaks, Hyperframes, regulators (mostly Max-flows and Vigilantes), probably delrin or nylon bolts. Nothing most Spyder users don't have.

In my opinion the key to getting sponsorship is letting you potential backer know what it is that you can do for them! It's salesmen ship all the way. if they think that you will increase their sales then they will back you weather you win tournaments or not.

Not neccesarily. Would you invest your money into a team if they weren't placing well in tournaments? The whole point of sponsorship is quid pro quo....something for something. If your coming in last place, not getting your picture put up anywhere, what are you providing for them?

Last I checked, the average Spyder owner has a 47ci crossfire tank, a cp barrel, and a revvy for upgrades :eyes:

I am just curious, but my team just won a local (fairly large) 3-man tourney. We will probably compete in the Diablo IAO 3-man, and if we do ok, (in the top 10) we may grab some of our practice buddies, start a 5-man, and seek sponsorship to compete in rookie tournies (WPF probably seeing as it has more tournies in my area). Who would be good to ask for sponsorship from (or however I should put it)? We don't really wanna change markers, maybe apparel, but we like our cockers.
Thanks

Well, when it comes to sponsorship, all you have to do is go out with really low expectations, hit a lot of businesses (we hit 60 in 3 days), and don't ask for a lot. Because when you think about it, companies sponsor teams so that they can get their name out in the community, and a 3 man team that plays in a very closed circut sport isn't going to do that for them. And even if you can't get money from them, be inventive in ways to get something for nothing. Ask them if you can use their busy storefront for a BBQ. If it is a grocery store they may give you some of the stuff for free, we got all our supplies for our BBQ at cost. If you go into a big car dealership, many of them have T-shirts and stuff that they might give to you to put in a silent auction that you should have in conjuction with the BBQ. You have to realize that all of these things are FREE MONEY, and when it comes to the cost of paintball, every penny counts. When you go to a business, take a letter, outlining what other fundraising you will do, (to show that you are dedicated), a brief history of your team, (so that they know that you arn't a bunch of savages running around in the woods promoting violence), and be sure to include what you can do for them, (like put a logo on your jersys or mention their name at a tourny). But most importantly, don't get disgouraged, because people don't LIKE to GIVE things AWAY. :sulk:

Wrongo again.
They were up here just 3 weeks ago, 4 of them shot stock AMG's (the one with the flat foregrip, I think its the amg)
They ran a screw in hyperflow directly into the stock system. He told me hes using the stock bolt. The only thing he added was a freak, revvy, the tank and a dropforward.
They also dont shoot em1's anymore (at least none of them did when they were here, and I have heard they ditched the em1 all together)

Check harder... most have a lot more than that. I personally have a WGP reg, full Freak, Rev and LP mods. Those are pretty basic additions... I wouldn't even consider them upgrades. A Rev is pretty much a necessity as are extra barrels and a reg... HPA is a nice upgrade though.

acctually ur are dead wrong.and most of the time u dont see that because imo opinion and several otheres it would be silly to put a dam reg(maxflow) that expensive on 160 or 250 dollar gun and al that stuff unless its free. but hey do what u want.Unless its your back up gun and ur trickin it out.

You do know we are talking about Bad Company, the Kingman sponsored team, right?
They have to use spyders of some sort.

I want you to show me 5 people (not players from BC) who have either a max flow or a total freak on their Spyder. It shouldn't be hard to do, considering they are such "basic additions"

Uhh... ok:
Here's one with a Freak(this is mine):
http://homepage.mac.com/mcilree/.Pictures/DCP_0003.JPG
...and another (#2)... it's got a Max-Flow...
http://www.tbns.net/spliff/paintball.html
Scroll down this page (http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12918&perpage=21&pagenumber=6) to find pics of a red Spyder with a Freak... that's 3.
And #4... a quote from PBR member "big ugly spyder", this is his signature... a Max Flow:
spyder 2000, centerflag hyperframe,12" lapco bigshot, bob long cyclone bolt w/out insert, 1
2/18 revvy, 48 ci 3000psi pmi nitro tank,VERTICAL MAX FLO,lp operating pressure of 300psi, pmi turbo valve ,
32* spring kit, macroline kit,cp flames drop.
Now #5, I don't have a pic of unfortunately, it's my team-mates TL+, he's got a 14" full Freak kit.
How about another Max Flow? Here ya go... (that would be #6)
http://www.paintballnyc.com/images/mystuff/images/spydertlelcd1.jpg
Feel better now? I've got work to do... run along.
